Nice! I think 3.55s are probably the best overall choice for a dd. I was leaning towards 3.73 but my gut is telling me to go 3.55! What to do? Save a bit on gas or even better acceleration?

Forget gas! I'm averaging 16.3 right now!

What were you quoted on install? I'm debating on doing gears soon too, but I understand the install is quite expensive.

Looking forward to hearing your review with your current mods!

quoted 150!!!
And someone is going to ask about reliability. there is a woman here in town that has had him install gears in all of her stangs, and has even put in a torque converter for her. It's like an hour drive from here, but i think it's worth it.

heads up!
anyone that lives in northern Alabama/southern Tennessee, can go to Hice Auto Repair in Killen, AL.
he charges 150 for gears, and from what i've been told he does a good job.
I'm going to go there once i get my gears

I had my 3.73's installed on Monday. I thought I heard some rattling when I push it but only a little. I hope it's just in my head but is that normal? Will it go away?

You should just install gears yourself. Save about 150-300$

Unless you have no idea what you're doing even with detailed instructions and pow! You just lost your rear end.

I would try to stay away from a Ford dealership because they are going to hit you dry and not even kiss you or leave a few bucks on the night stand. Lol. A fair and reasonable install price should be around 400 max not including the gears. Just the install price.

I've got 3.55's in my car and like them. It gets going quite fast and I can't imagine having higher gears on the highway. I'm already at 2500 rpm in 5th at 73 mph lol.

So just curious, what type of rpm would you be looking at for a 3:73 gear at 80 mph on a car that has 6 gears. I know you said your at 2500 rpm in 5th gear at 73 mph but why not then just shift to your 6th gear. The 11 plus are 6 speed auto or manual. Just wondering where your rpm would be with 3:73 gears doing 73 in 6th gear.

I know currently with my 2:73 gears traveling around 80 mph had my rpm right around 2000. I have no idea where I'll be when I install my 3:73 gears at the same speed.

I had mine installed this past monday, I havent even paid attention to the rpms, Im having way too much fun. I have an 87 performance tune and I seem to be averaging 23-24 mpg. Needless to say I am surprised but who knows if it will change. I want to take it on a road trip and see what my highway mileage is.
