I'm just about to install GT 500 stripes but my car was waxed a few months ago "september" . Will sunlight dish detergent remove any remaining wax? Any help appreciated! Thx

Use dawn soap. It gets it the cleanest. Use a sponge and cotton cloth to scrub. Let it air dry. Then use windex to clean it one last time before you put the decals on.

Dawn is so gentle it won't mess anything up. They use it to clean baby birds in oil spills. Just make sure to use windex when applying the decals.

I've all ways claybarred. It might be a head game for me because I have heard that Dawn works pretty good, but this technique works for me.

Dawn does work, just use the original. Good stuff for a full strip.

Well its taking a bit longer than expected. I found out that a heat gun works really well on the ends of the stripes to tuck them around the hood, trunk and roof. Gonna finish it tomorrow. Here's a couple of pics so far.

The front stripes have been redone since the pic
Bc they where not straight enough for me and I also did the piece above the grille to make it blend with the hood

Good idea its very time consuming! Good thing I had a heat gun because idk how you would do the bumpers without it. The ends would keep lifting!

Yea..dont try to make them straight lol if that makes sense.. Try to line them up to the hood. Heat guns are your best friends in this tricky areas. Do one at a time that helps

Because the bumper is rounded the my stripes won't go on properly. The spacing between them gets larger and looks funny. I have a little piece left over that I'm going to re try today but any extra help would be appreciated!

Does it come as one giant stripe? Why not laser line it and let it stretch over the grille and bumper. Cut it, then take it and apply it to the bumper and use what's left for the decklid portion.

My C stripe was one giant piece so I was able to line the tail end up correctly and cut the wheel well portions away.

All our bumpers are rounded and angled outward. The trick is to first line up the inside gap and keep it straight then focus on the outer one.use painters tape to keep the gap visible and don't worry about the curves of the bumpers that's what the heatgun is for.

That's what I said after doing mine. One thing you can do to make it easier on the bumper
Is cut it into 3 pieces and make each piece just a little longer than the 3 bumper body lines . Over lay each piece so it so t have a gap.
I did this the first time I did my stripes on the bumper . Then after I wrecked it I just kept them one piece . They are not as straight but close enough .

It looks great!! Your much braver then I! Glad they turned out well. I had bought stripes but I opted for the paint. The bumper part looks tricky, but great job!

Just gonna ask to save a thread; girlfriend's parent use dawn dish soap for EVERY wash. Even on their new 13 Avalon. Is that bad if you just wash it and call it a day?

It's perfectly fine as long as you rinse completely. Note it will remove wax so you should not need to wax it after ever wash.
