I've heard a lot of people on this forum don't recommend using the pre-loaded tunes but I'm not sure why!

Because the preloaded tunes probably won't benefit you as well as a custom tune fit for your exact mustang.

If you get custom tunes from BAMA you fill out a 21 point questionnaire about your mustang, like what mods you have and what brand the mods are, and then they write a tune that is tailored to those mods. Preloaded tunes wouldn't go that in-depth, because they're like a "one-fits-all" tune.

I'm fully aware that there are bigger gains from custom tunes, in my situation I was just asking that to buy an unlocked tuner for cheap and use the pre-loaded. Then just buy customs tunes later down the line, I haven't heard of any harmful side effects or anything. It's obvious that they aren't as responsive or aggressive as a custom tune, but to gain one cheaper makes more since to then drop $379 for a new one....

Can anyone answer this question for me. I currently have a 91R tune and 2.73 gears. I just received my 91H tune but for 3.55 gears that I'm going to have installed. When on the new tune and gears, if I return to stock would I be calibrated for the 2.73s or the 3.55s?

Your stock mode would be 2:73 gears and therefore would think stock would think it still has 2:73 gears. Why would you bring it back to stock and leave it on there?

I don't know when I should update my tuner and load my new tunes in my car when I'm getting the new gears.

You load the updated version when you have the gears installed, I would have the gears installed and just add the tune in the parking lot after they're done. Idk if I'm answering your question but that's what I would do or gonna do ....

Return it to stock when u take it in to get gears changed or before. Then update tuner, when u pick up car upload new tune before u drive or it wont shift just right.

Idk if anybody has experienced this but when I went to the dealership, I tuned it back to stock in the Parking lot and as soon as my car turned on it sounded awful. The Rpms were bouncing back and forth and I thought the car was going to die or something. It was like the car was out of gas. I just turned it off and retuned it and told them to not mess with the computers
