Thoughts on tuners?

I've been really considering getting a tuner for my 2010 v6. I've heard it can really effect your engine life.? Anybody have one or know about them?

A tuner will help your car so much!

I don't own one, but I plan on getting a tuner soon. I haven't heard anyone say anything about them having a negative impact on your engine. They are supposed to help everything run smoother, actually; the tune should optimize your air-to-fuel ratio, so nothing is left unburnt! Hopefully someone who owns one will chime in.

A tune would really wake up ur car. I didn't think so at 1st either but it's awesome! I'd suggest bama tunes because u can't beat free tunes for life they come in handy!

A tuner can do allot of things for you. Anything from making the most of your higher octane gas, get the most out of your mod's. A tune can be as crazy or as mild as you like, it's all up to how you want it it done.

if your not sure what you want then free tunes for life from Bama is the only way to go.

A tune is going to be my next mod, probably will order after this weekend... I'll probably run the 91 street tune to pick up some mpg since my lead foot has been burning through gas since i got my Mustang last month.

I recently got my tuner but now my speedometer is reading +10 MPH over my actual speed. I have perf pkg, which comes with 3.31 gears, and that's what I told them I had, so I'm not sure why it's off.

They must not have changed it make sure they do 3.31s! You don't want those extra miles getting racked up!

So I went ahead and got the tuner and cold air intake off American muscle. Amazing differences! Cars finally alive! What tune mode do you all think is best to drive a long distance in? Street or performance?

I would say either street or performance. Those two seem to give me the best average MPG. I usually always run the 93 hybrid but I get 1-3 less MPG.

It's worth it. The tune is what makes you feel the difference, not the Cai.

I wanted the tune cos i drive a lot in intersections and i hate that feeling when youre trying to speed up and it takes 3 sec. To finally go or lag. With the tuner does it change the lag or no more lag when accelerating?

It definitely helps with throttle response especially if you have an intake huge difference!

So i finally installed the tuner and had a test run in the hi way and all i can say is holy crap... I can really feel the difference and im only using 87 octane street tune cos i still have some left in the tank.. So if i use the 89 and 91 do you think that there is a big difference? Cant wait until my tank is empty..

The 89 and 91 octane tunes are more aggressive. The higher the octane is, the more they can advance the timing and maximize the power output.

Do you think i can put the 89 octane in the tank now? Even though i still have a quarter left in the tank and use the 89 tune? And is it bad to change tune all the time?

It will be fine if you put 91 in it. The way these engines are set up these days, they will automatically adjust for a small octane change and ****** cam timing for it.

What is the difference between the 89 and 91 octane tune? Performance wise, im sorry to many questions just curious before i try them, cos if there is no big difference then i will just stick stick with 89 octane. Thanks again for the input appreciate it sir..

The 91 is a smidge more aggressive. I say either stay 87 or go 91-93(which ever you can get). I run 93 race everyday. I recently switched from 93 hybrid to 93 race.

Also there are different types of tunes , not just different octanes. There are street, performance, race, and hybrid tunes and all of those can be 87,89,91,93 octane.

Honestly I couldn't tell much of a difference, but as I stated before I'm running the race for my daily. And all you have to do is go on the website and login and add the free tunes for life to your cart and checkout. Then they will send you a link in an email. Fill the form out and in the comments box request any time you want. Also you can just call them with a order #

sounds like you already have you answer, but just to reassure you, I run the 91 Race tune and that tune is so agressive. The first time I accelerated, I was with my friend and we both looked at each other and said "holy sh*t"
Trust me man, Its worth the 20+ cents for the premium grade gas.
