Its basically a tube that goes from the intake tube near the TB and travels to ur firewall port and it has a special section that has a rubber seal of some sort that makes it so only sound travels through the tube and not air. The point of it is to make the engine sound enter the cabin more so u feel and hear the engine when u drive. In all honesty it made my engine sound awesome from outside looking at the engine. And in the cabin it sounds awesome too. You hear the engine way better. If u can get one i would buy it and install it. Its pretty nifty

Yeah you're going to want to snatch one up from a buddy with a 5.0 because i wanted to do this a while back so i called ford for the part. It would've come out to about $100 for the sound tube alone. If you can find one for $20 then take a shot at it, but otherwise, it's not worth it if you're only looking to drop money on performance gains

You can also do the same thing with a CAI install. The stock air intake system has a large "muffler" (sound deadener) on the side of the air tube that connects the air cleaner filter box to the throttle body. If you remove this box, you'll get the same results, as this muffler deadens the sound. Even the 5.0's have a sound deadner on their stock intake tubes. Amazed me why Ford put the sound deadener on the tube, then plumbed a "sound tube" to the firewall so the driver could hear the sound!

Three options: Get a 5.0 sound tube. Be sure to get all the parts. You'll also need a PVC 90 degree elbow to install onto your stock intake tube.

Get a CAI

Cut off the sound deadner box and fiberglass the hole it will leave, then paint the tube. This basically creates your own CAI, only with the stock air filter box instead of an open cone type filter.

If you want to install the sound tube from a 5.0 onto your V6, watch this youtube:

So what i did was remove the vacuum line from the engine to the intake and add a small breather filter to the engine port, then i attached the Sound tube to that Vacuum port on the Intake. Its in the same spot the 5.0's have it so it works perfect. I mounted it all the way the 5.0's have it and everything. It works and sounds awesome to me.

I did mine a while back now, and still love it! I've got one foam baffle in now but am thinking of taking the last one out.

There are three foam baffles in total. One in each of the ends of the tube. And another in the round bypass. Just pull it apart with your muscles. It gets significantly louder when you start to remove them.

But there is no power increase. I guess if you can't dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with bull****. Rather have a faster car than a noise maker, But that;s just my thoughts.

Are you for serious? Do you realize car manufacturers spend millions of dollars and thousands of hours developing your cars engine sound? It makes the sound more enjoyable for the passenger without being loud on the outside. Your thought are terrible and shouldn't be shared!

Yea man not all mods are going to make your car "faster" that doesn't mean it is a bad mod. Like switching out your mufflers doesn't make your car any "faster" but is an amazing upgrade. Plz think about what your saying before you post man cause calling this mans idea bull**** is not needed and not worth saying thanks

Ooooo and that was your first post ever......you should make a thread and introduce yourself post pics of your Stang on there too

My front bumper was peeling in the corners so it is at ford being painted this week. when i get it back i will take a few shots. I made my cai and shroud too. I hooked it into the shroud (picks up sound of air rushing into the filter) so it has a whistle coming into the cabin right from the filter element. most that get into the car ask me how much boost i am running lol.
