CAI or CAI + Tune?

I've done some research on the subject. And seeing dyno results after a CAI by itself, then seeing the results with the two combined, aren't really that different. I don't have headers or turbo...this will be my first mod. What are your opinions?

Yep. I had a CAI before my tune and could barely feel a difference but once I got it tuned it awoke the sleeping beast!

Get the tuner and cai that requires a tuner. I used to have a cai w/ no tune required it was a nice noise maker. Then I got a cai that required a tune and the power difference was awesome.

What CAI did you get? I'm thinking about the JLT or C&L.

I got the STEEDA cai and bama tune. The assembly was pretty easy. AM has the combo set.

Oh shoot! I bought the 3.73 gears and tune combo and I bought the STEEDA cai from Steeda website. But AM sells the Steeda cai and the bama tuner. Sorry about that.

Do you plan to do more mods in the future? If so, I'd suggest going the route of a CAI and Tune combo.

Definitely get a CAI that requires a tune. You'll always see more gains with a CAI that is big enough to warrant a tune. I'd suggest the JLT with a Bama tune.

What's the difference between your intake and any other intake?

Do you lose anything (performance wise) with a CAI that doesn't require a tune if you by a Bama Tuner? I have had a afe CAI and it states that is doesn't require a tuner. Therefore would using one with it be a waste of money?

Yeah but their slight performance gains don't seem to justify the extra $100+ dollars over other brands.http://www.steeda.com/blog/wp-conten...i-vs-chart.jpg

Here is an article that shows why we put our CAI ahead of the competition:

Why Steeda Cold Air Intakes Blow Away The ‘Competition’ Steeda Blog

Remember you get what you pay for ... and from a Steeda standpoint that is a made in American product ... that is designed/engineered/manufactured at our facilities under ISO 9001:2008 standards. This means you will get the highest quality product that we can manufacture.

We also work closely with Ford Motor Company in regards to their SEMA Technology Transfer Program.

When you purchase from Steeda ... you are getting a high quality piece with a lot of years of racing experience behind it ... and the high reputation we have in the industry among consumers and Ford Motor Company.

Try the Steeda difference for yourself and you will not be disappointed.

Best Regards,

TJ

Charlie,

Like I said ... have a lot of manufacturing, engineering, and designing that are worked into our products ... and they are also made in America.

You won't regret the fit and finish that accompanies the Steeda CAI. Like many products in life ... there are always cheaper ones ... but it doesn't necessarily mean they are better or the same quality.

Best Regards,
TJ

I gonna ask a dumb question so I won't b surprised if I get a dumb answer. What makes a steeda better than any other Cai that's offered from let's say AM or any other well know company? Isn't it basically a rubber/metal tube to a filter with its own airbox? Yes its made in america, years of engineering and all the rest but what really sets it apart from the rest for the extra $? A new Cai is on my list shortly and I would like true facts, no bs sales pitch. I don't mind spending extra if there is real difference! BTW the car will b tuned.

Well u will gain a few HP extra from the larger diameter tubing but honestly from even what the Steeda Dyno sheets show it was only a 5-8HP different for a bit more money. When i say more money i mean 400 compared to 260 for the airaid AM recommends.

Click on that link. First the tube is larger, secondly it the design of the tube itself. It has a unique shape that allow the air to enter smoothly rather than bouncing around and circulating.
