I have never understood them on the mustangs either. My wife's dodge nitro came with them. And so do the grand sport Vette.

Something had to start it though?

Grand Sport series racing.

Only production car I know of that was raced in the Grand Sport series was the Corvette; started in 1963 as a RPO Z06 package for the Vette.

Seems Dodge had a production model that was entered as well.

I don't care for the hash marks either, but with that being said keep in mind that this is just a preference an my opinion. Its your car and its all about what you like.

When GM released a Grand Sport edition vette in 1996 (was one in '63 as well), I nearly spit out my coffee one morning reading on how much they were selling for. I owned a plain old 1986 vette at the time, and was ready to trade it in. But not on this one: it's list price was around $37K, but the dealerships had them marked up $15 to 20K above sticker. Folks were buying them up too. Again, those were 1996 prices. Today that would be well over $100K.

To the OP of this post: they look nice against your white Mustang. Stands out against any other Mustang you'd park next to.

I installed a set of UPR Billet hood pins. I have to honestly say, that first drill bit (pilot hole) into the hood is a scary feeling! After drilling 4 holes (gradually larger to fit the pin), it got easier and less scary. Once done, it was a nice install, and they look and function great. My hood does not bounce at all at highway speeds. I will say that these new mustangs really don't need the real hood pins, but if your going to do it, do the real thing.

Thanks but I've done it before on a 06 gt i had and they were the shelby set. I'm just looking to possibly install them on a 13 I just want to make sure I get a set that i feel confident that it for sure fits on a 13.

I think they look good on your car.

I think people should know what they are talking about before chiming in.

The hash symbols were originally used on race cars so the pit crew could identify different drivers.

So back in the day they were only on the pit side of the car. They helped a multi car race team pick out different drivers on their team.

Now those of you who never knew what hash symbols were used for, now you know some knowledge.

They don't go with some Mustangs, but I like the clean look on yours. Don't add any more strips or side decals and it will look nice and clean.

Everybody is going to have their own opinions about everything. Personally, I like them. Now you need to paint your calipers red!

I have black ones with red chasers on mine. Also, would like to add to the heritage. Back in the day, drivers from the usa (left side drivers) and across the pond, (right side drivers) would race for different teams and in different cars... That said, the stripes are also rumored to signify which side of the car the steering wheel was on. Anyway, the stripes are paying homeage to lemans racing and are not brand specific.

nice little touch of history there. thanks for passing on the knowledge...

I kinda like them personally. I think I could live with some matte black ones on my black car. Have almost pulled the trigger a few times but my money always ends up going to performance parts

Look OK but needs more.

The hash stripes look OK but you should think of the same color center stripe. The single 8 inch stripe with the skinny stripe on each side of it would really make that white pop. I have not seen a white Mustang with the red center stripe at all around. I see a million of them using blue stripes but never red.

I'm talking Super Snake style. I don't see a vender that sells them red but you may be able to get them made by: www.promotorstripes@gmail.com E-Mail to Eugene what you would want. He uses 3M and they are great quality. I got my spears from him and got the window film guy here in my town to put them on.

I have to respectfully disagree with Ronnie here, I think if you put any more stripes on it it'll look clustered and overdone. But that's just my opinion, and it has been known to suck.

The URL ones are indeed the Shelby ones. They replace the radiator mounts, then the pins thread into these new mounts. Beauty of this kit is that the pins align with the holes in the plastic fan cover; you simply inlarge them. Very well engineered kit as the Shelby's.

Not on the side of the car

Just the thin red Super Snake stripe across the top. The hash marks would look much better then just by them selves. The way they are now it looks unfinished.
Just my opinion which don't amount to much.

Hey sorry I'm not a fan of the hash marks but it only matters if you like them. On the other note the hood pins on your car fit perfect! I think it's because your cars white. Normally I'm not a fan of them but somehow they work here.

Yes they are appearance they don't make real ones. The only way you can get hood pins is with an aftermarket hood and you'd have to favor where to put them. I like the hash marks, you should paint the brake calipers red

Appearance mods are always going to be an opinion so don't worry if someone else says they dont like it.

That being said, i'm not a huge fan of hash marks. Then I saw American Muscle's 2011 V6 project car. Overall, i think because your car is so clean, they kinda work for it. Looks good

Not true! As my post a few up from you tells, they make a kit that replaces the radiator mounts; the pins screw into these, and the plastic radiator cover requires inlargment where normally the hold down cover pins are. You do have to drill the holes in the hood of course. Here's one link of many that have them:

http://www.stage3motorsports.com/pro...FUPc4Aodf3AANw

I'll take pics of my install and start another post.
