I wish it were deep enough to hold my phone, other than that it's pretty useless.

Yeah, were in a point in time in our history where smoking isn't cool. Even in high school.

Interesting. I've always found it humorous how many "closet smokers" there are. They seem to come out of hiding when Im around. I'm probably a bad influence.

It's easy to tell who is a closet smoker and who isn't. Just smell their breath or their clothes. It's usually pretty obvious.

Anyway... I think that tray is just a catch-all for whatever. Chewing gum, paper clips, a place to set your keys before get out and lock the door, etc. I have a coin holder in mine that looks the perfect size to hold 50 cent pieces. Wtf!?!? I suspect that they had cell phones in mind for that space but now were all carrying these pocket computers.

Here is what I think it is...

As you know, the 2013 up mustang has a "S" mode that can be shifted too. In the 2011 and 2012 model mustang you can shift 1-2-3... Because of this, the 2011-12 mustang's shifter is a bit longer. Ford then realized that if they change the size of the shifter assembly they would also have to re-size the hole in the center console.... Or did they... The cheap way out was to keep the hole the same size and fill in the gap... And so they did.

Lazy Ford. They could have added extra room for a double gulp. 'MERICA

random, but looking at both the 2011-12 and the 13+ shifter makes me dislike my 2012 shifter even more.... I was never a fan of the T-handle personally

Hurst now has a nice handle that replaces the T-handle.

Got a link? I can't find it. Will it work on 11/12 and keep the grade assist button?

Someone pulled off the t-handle a while back and was said there was a threaded part to the main stick... they were able to thread a shifter ball onto it without too much trouble it seems. You did have to relocate the grade assist button though and instead of pushing a button to shift from park or reverse you had to push down on the ball... I will see if I can find the thread but it was a while back

Onebad3.7. It's one of those things where once you do it. That's final. I would love a 2013 shifter at least.
