Weird...

Sooo... I turned my car on today and BOOM! Check engine light is on!! WTF! I've had the car for only a month in a half. It only has 876 miles on it. Drives fine. Nothing that I can feel different. I made an appointment for Monday morning. Do you guys think I should pay for anything?? Or should they cover it all?

It came with a factory warranty. No worries. Whatever is wrong will be covered. In the meantime, check your gas cap and make sure it's on tight.

There is no gas cap. It's a easy fuel. Thanks for the info.

So how does that work? Just stick the nozzle in and start pumping?

Mine came on one time when it was a few months old, next day it was off and has never came on again.

Don't worry...

Just take it in... Ford will reset if there is no apparent problem

You can buy a plug for the gas inlet that locks it, it was my first mod!

Alright, so I went to ford and the said its the easy fuel thing.. Lol. It doesn't have a complete seal around the tank and it's letting air in. That's why my engine light went on. So they order the part and will be replacing it. Thank god for warrantees !!

Lmao. No. Untill recently, my newest vehicle was 22 years old. There is a learning curve with all this new stuff. Please bear with me guys. Lol. But I was close with my diagnosis. If that car had a gas cap, I would have been dead on.

I've heard of isolated issues with the no-cap fuel system before. Some seem to break if you keep fiddling with the pump nozzle while it's in the car, i.e. shaking out every last drop.

Stop doing that, and stop filling when the pump kicks off the first time. Do not top off the fuel. It will slosh up the neck when you drive (until you burn down the gas) and back fill into the charcol canister that is used to capture gas fumes. This canister gets raw fuel into it and fails, sets a code, and is around 100 bucks to replace.

+1. Three a code after I did this. Took me three times to figure this out.
