Few complaints about my 2014 V6

I wanted to know if anyone else is having noise issues with there mustang. When I go over the smallest bumps while driving I hear an annoying rattle sound coming from the rear of my car. I brought to ford and they claim that's normal, I think I'm going to take it to another dealer to get it checked out. Also what do you guys think of the stock tires that comes on the base models? for some reason I don't trust them...

My car is absolutely quiet with no rattles whatsoever....obviously something
is not right, but being in the car repair business I can tell you that noises are absolutely
the hardest thing to diagnose. The dealer is giving you the run around hoping you will go
away because they know the noise will be very difficult to diagnose. Good luck with your problem! If you can't get a dealer to fix it you will need to complain directly to Ford about it.

I hear a squeaking sound from the front right bumper cover touching the fender. It's mostly gone now but for the first few weeks it was this creaking sound whenever I went over a bump.

How long have you had the car and where do you think the sound is coming from?

I have one small interior rattle that makes itself known in cold weather. It's the chrome trim for the speedo gauge. I haven't taken it to them to fix because I know how to fix it and it's not a big deal. However, if I was having other creeks and groans all the time from places I didn't know or couldn't find, I'd take it back for fixing.

Check the stuff in the trunk under the floor mat

It could be something loose in where the spare tire/ air pump is located. Check it to see if that may be causing the rattle.

I had the exact same problem, small bumps or uneven roads and if would clunk like mad, took me for ever to figure out it was the sway bar. For me it wasn't the endlinks but the other two bushings closer to the center of the car.

No there is an air pump period. No spare. That will cost you extra. Of course the salesman didn't tell you that did he?

Actually, the spare doesn't cost you extra. The spare is automatically put in cars with the base 17" wheels. Cars with performance packages and larger wheels are instead given slime and an air compressor. I think the justification is the package cars have slightly larger brakes and the spare won't clear them, but I'm not 100% certain.

Tech Package isn't a car package that involves larger wheels or performance upgrades. That's just an interior electronic package. If you have base 17" wheels, you get a spare.

You have to buy SLIME

The stuff Ford puts in with the tire pump is """NOT""" Slime. The Ford stuff """WILL"" ruin your TPM and force you to purchase a new one.

You can get slime at any auto parts store or at Walmart. It comes in a squeeze bottle form or two different size arasol cans. You can also get it with a small air compressor. Slime just rinses out with water and is a good """TEMPORARY""" repair to get you where you can have the tire patched.

Not on the 2012 in California. Mine is a base model 2012 the only option being the 3:31 rear end automatic.
No Spare

Did you buy it new? If it doesn't have a spare, it should have a compressor and some gunk at least. If it doesn't have either, someone took them.

Used car lots are good for stealing spares and jacks, because they can turn around and sell them for $100+.

I bought it new. It has the compressor as the owners manual says it should. 2012 Base Model in California does not come with a spare.

My 2011 Mustang has 18 inch wheels, and it had no spare. A year ago, I had a flat, so in went the Ford goo, and I pumped up the tire. Followed the directions in the owners manual. Took the car into the tire shop. They said the goo might have ruined the TPM and would need to be replaced. I promptly declined their service and took it to my local Ford dealership service department. The service advisor said the same thing. I told him that I used what Ford provided, and followed the directions in the owners manual; I informed him I would not be paying for any service repair on the TPM, and that I wanted the tire patched from the inside (I agreed to pay that). The ford dealership replaced the TPM for good measure at their cost, and I purchased another can of their goo.

My 2013 MCA edition came with 18" wheels and I have the spare. So it isn't just the 17" base that gets a spare.

Hey Jim

Does your 18 inch spare fit into the place in the trunk ? I have been trying to find out because I will buy another 18 inch wheel and tire as well as a jack to replace the air pump crap that Ford put in my car.

Do us 18 inch wheel people a favor and take a picture to show us how everything fits.

Ronnie
