Now why would you disconnect the battery to install a cai? Were talking air here not electricity.

Hi Neal

The reason is to reset the computer to allow it to adjust its self to the increased air flow. It has nothing to do with electricity.

Quick question as its along the same lines as the thread. Just bought an Airaid intake. My car only has roughly 600 miles on it. Is it safe to put it on already on should I "break in" the engine more with the original CAI? Thanks in advance!

I waited a while before putting mine on.

I don't think it would hurt anything to install it but I would wait until at least after the first oil change for a CAI.
I put my Magnaflows on first and a K&N drop in at less then 300 miles.

No engine break in is needed. It's broken in by Ford before being installed in the car.

With a CAI, you get a woosh, but you also get a louder sounding engine because you can now hear the engine through the intake. The factory intake design has all those weird compartments and spaces not used in order to capture this sound and make it quieter. The engine IS louder after you install a CAI.
