Least Raspy Exhaust

Hey everyone,

I just bought a 2014 v6 and im looking to see what ya'll think would be the least raspy sounding. I plan on getting bbk headers and the catted x pipe, but im not sure what to get for the axlebacks. I've listened to many different clips, but I know they usually sound different in person. What do you guys think? Thanks.

Yes. A little more pricey with catted H-pipe, but yes

Look into getting resonators that takes away a lot of rasp from what I hear.

Magnaflow Streets Deep rumble, No Drone, All Stainless steel, Excellent nice large tips. Fit perfect. Excellent flow and performance.

But mags sound like crap on headers. Get the touring or something free flowing like pypes.

I have Borla atak BBK ceramic LTs and offload x pipe and it will wake up a neighborhood...it's too loud. I'm gonna try resonators like Charlie_santos suggested. I hope it quiets it down cuz I love my Borla atak

I really have to disagree with White

Magnaflow streets sound great with headers on a 3.7 V6 Mustang. I just heard one last week at the car show at the Daytona Market. The guy that owned the car said he had Borla ataks on it and it was so loud he had to take them off so opted for Magnaflow streets because he had heard my car a couple of months ago and liked the sound. He sold the Borlas and put on the Mags with his Long Tube headers with an X-Pipe. His car now sounds like my car does without headers. The headers seemed to not make much difference in sound at all but he did say he lost some low RPM grunt. He is talking about going for short tubes and High performance cats to get his low end torque back.

I guess some people love the obnoxious high pitched jap car fart box sound on their Mustangs. Some of us don't.

White lightning is 100% wrong when he said this

Magnaflow streets are a great sounding Muffler no matter if you have headers, or not. They just ain't loud.

He is right when he said Borla touring. It's just that the Tourings are not as deep sounding as the Magnaflow streets.

I don't know what to tell you but I have had 4 exhausts including the magnaflow streets and they are nice but not the be all end all you make them out to be. The Borla s types are deeper than the magnaflows by a good margin

Right from Borla

Link>

I personally would go for the touring if going Borla.

They still are louder and not as deep sounding as the streets but not so obnoxious as ataks. There is something for everybody but this is what was asked.

Other then the Ford stock mufflers that came on his car, The Magnaflow streets are the least raspy of them all. They also are the quietest of almost all of the aftermarket mufflers. The Borla / Ford Racing tourings are so close it ain't worth arguing about.

The magnaflow street catback and the MBRP catback is a good argument. Both are deep with no raspy sound or drone. IMO the MBRP has the the better finish and matches Borla's, but cost between the Borla's and Magnaflow's

The videos I heard make it sound like an uncatted H pipe with a high pitch tin can sound. I wish I could have heard them in person.

I assumed a free flowing setup would sound bad with a muffler style exhaust. I have magnaflow resonators on my roush if that says anything about deep and loud lol

Check out bassani, many consider them to be the deepest mufflers for the v6, mine drone only slighly around 2400-2800 rpm going up hill

For those that have off road set up, wouldn't resonators defeat the purpose?

Resonators keep the volume but take out harsh tone like the rasp of a v6 with no cats. It's taming the nature of the beast if you think of it like that. My roush rumble instead of trumpet.

I have LT headers offload x pipe and Borla atak. it is terribly loud with a some rasp at WOT. would these resonators that you put on ur roush make it sound significantly lower the volume. I mean it is sooooo loud!

It takes out the highs and amplifies the lows. The off road X is crazy loud but still sounds good. I have 22 inch resonators but the shorter the less the affect.

Well I dont mind it being loud. I just dont want the high end rasp that I hear from a lot of clips. I heard the same setup I want with roush axlebacks and resonators that seemed to take out the unwanted noise.

For that get the Borla stingers.. Better quality and the noise is kept outside the cabin.

Consider a set of GT500's. I have these on my 2011 V6. I like the sound they produce. Not loud (I'm older and like my neighbors), and can enjoy the cruise to work each day with the radio.

I'd suggest trying an h pipe along with some magnaflow mufflers...

Thanks man for the suggestion, got another quick question, I plan to add a turbo for performance but I would like to know if it makes the exhaust sound different in anyway

As the installer of the first turbo for these motors. Yes. It's best to go dumped and it sounds like a tractor.

Bassani has no rasp, but is very deep. Took me about 15k miles to get rid of the drone. Now with buildup they sound amazing.
