3.73 to 4.10

I recently messed up my gears and am looking at 4.10 gears. anyone have any experience with these? I know main concern with most people is top speed and mpg. how much of a difference is it switching from 3.73 to 4.10 mpg and top speed wise. I have an automatic if that matters.

It will be about 125 rpm difference. Each gear ratio up numerically adds about 5% more torque. So u have 390's inbetween so u r looking at about a 10% gain in torque. I would do it because u r an auto. In a manual it makes first gear very high and difficult to get a good launch due to first gear being short so getting off the clutch takes finese. In an auto not an issue. Go for it.

Depends which you ratio you go for city or highway but -3 range. Not to noticeable for that much better acceleration

Do you do more city stop/go driving than highway? On the highway, at highway speeds, you will be at much higher RPM, so your mileage will drop significantly.

But if you are more city type driving, then not as noticable. Personally, I see a 4:10 used for drag strip use.

I love 4.10s.. Good thread in my signature. At the same time I don't see it worth it to switch from 3.73 to 4.10s. Acceleration will increase but not worth the price tag IMO. We're talking AT MOST 1/10th of a second if you can keep it hooked up.

I live in Fort Worth so I do mostly city driving. I do highway driving twice a week tho. I want to get better 0-60 times out of my 6. I got lower/upper control arms so I don't think I would have much trouble hooking up. people say that the whole it will ruin your top end it just a myth-that actually these cars don't have nearly enough Hp to go 190 mph+. so my top speed would lower to around 170 mph which is still not reasonable for the 3.7. I don't plan on going 150 mph anywhere anymore. can some clarify if this is right?

I might change from my 3.73's to 4.10's someday. Our top speed is drag (wind) limited no matter what gears you have. Just saying.......

yeah dude and my mpg is pretty damn good. I don't think 2-3 mpg would do much. I get around 390-400 miles a tank now
