Doesn't sound good. I don't remember his name but someone on this forum had the exact same problem and ford replaced the transmission.

I'm gonna say its the transmission due to it popping out. The clutch if its slipping or hard to go through the gears.

If going down said road and it pops out, that's the tranny. I test drove a 12 manual and it ground in R and 3rd popped out. I said give me the auto.

There's people all over YouTube with the same problem some of them got screwed over an couldn't get it fixed because they were told they were abusing their car

That's pretty scary to think they are blaming it on abuse and not covering it!

If the car is not modded in the way of a tuner, I'd say you'll have a good case to get Ford to repair it under warranty.

If its not modded or from abuse, I bet it'd be cheaper to hire a lawyer than buy a tranny lol. Not the suing kind but if I had a brand new car and did nothing to year it up and it under warranty and they wouldn't fix it. I'd see them on judge Judy.

The synchronizer is gone. If you grind at all under normal conditions, its a synchro.

Now, why the synchro wore out is up for debate. Early ones wore due to the flywheel bolts backing out preventing you from fully disengaging the clutch. I have suspicions that the rev hang in these cars can be blamed for some 2nd gear mayhem as well. 2nd gear is the roughest gear in my car. It's not grinding but it is crunchy at times, even with the shifter bracket. I have yet to understand why. Sometimes its butter smooth, other times it feels like you're rolling it in sand for a second. Just poor trans design and QC I think.

14k miles here.

Do you have a tuner or any mods? Did the dealership give you any crap over it when you took it in?

I have noticed that when shifting into second hear that it is sometimes really smooth or other times not so much almost like a crunch. All while the clutch is completely pushed to the floor. I have been driving stick for about 1000 miles and had a little practice before. Hoping this does not happen to mine. I have read in several forums in the gt sections issues with 2nd gear as well
