Sport mode locks out 6th gear, changes torque convertor settings. I drive my car in Sport mode but I don't use the + or -. I just put it in Sport mode and let the computer shift it out. Yes its faster then drive. All that should be in your factory book.

For racing, sport mode with the computer shifting it out.

Around town I keep it in drive.

Ride in Sport mode, then shift it up to Drive and you will see the rpms will drop about 200 rpms as soon as you shift into drive from sport mode. Higher rpms means your in the power band faster more often.

is it bad to have the computer automatically shift it in sport mode? I always thought it was only meant to manually shift using +/-

Nothing bad about it at all, it is simply a factory "performance" tune for the automatic - and shifting manually with the +/- is just an option.

At the track I always run it in S. I'm test out the difference between S & D next time!

Bama tune does not improve the Sport mide ( +\-) shift performance. All other tunes will still be in play though.

Yea he said the limiters are all removed but I think the difference would be the shift points!

I don't think it locks out sixth. It changes shifting times (assuming you don't push + or - )it adjusts traction control, and puts the steering in sport mode.
I used to drive in S all the time, until I noticed that it uses a lot more gas. :/ But you do get a bit more power in S.

You should always race in S btw.

I'm sure it does. Traction control and steering modes are independent of putting the trans in S.
And WOT holds the trans to redline in D or S

S mode doesn't change the steering! Only when u take traction control off it changes steering to street!

It does lock out sixth. Try driving with the car in S and then when you are up above 45 mph shift it to D and it will shift up once more. If you continue to drive in S and get on the highway it will never shift up to 6.

Yes you can manually shift up to 6th, but if you leave it in S and don't manually shift then 6th is locked out. Just like the OD button on the earlier models.
