I would say gears and install cost would run between 500 to 700 dollars and that's not including $380 for performance tuner and around 250 for CAI.

Do you think someone could cut one second off their 1/4 time with 3:73 gearing, performance tuner and cai?

300 for gears and install? Heck, an axle back exhaust system will run someone 500 to 650.00 and that's just for mufflers.

True and that not including a performance tuner and a cai.
CAI don't do hardly anything. If you want better times by slicks not a CAI. There are a lot of mods you can do that don't add hardly anything. Like full exhaust and tune vs my car with tune and gears is a hole lot of money vs just what you need to be faster. 13.4 1/4 is perfectly achievable around $1k not 3,500 if your buying the right mods not just for sound. Just saying

300 for gears and install?
Yes depending on where you live. In the south labor can be as low as 100$

How much do slicks run? Even gears and tune is gonna run 1k and that's with no slicks! Granted, take off the axle back exhaust because that's for all sound and not gonna do squat for improving 1/4 mile times. That's less 500 dollars but I think you would still need to be around 2500k

Just because we live in California and gear labor costs a lot doesn't mean it is everywhere els. Gears and install could be around 300 somewhere els and a tuner is what 300-350? That's 600-700 not 1000

And you can get some slicks off cregs for 200 300 bucks not 1,500

I can definitely feel the mod bug creeping. It's going to bite soon. I don't know about $3.5 million in mods though haha.
torque is the problem not hp and gearing will help with that

Wow. I spend just over $ 300 for my 3:73 gears and parts from American Musscle alone which didn't include the $290 install. $380 for my performance tuner. My one piece aluminum driveshaft from AM ran $ 690 alone.

I spent Half that for my gears. So we all can spend our money differently can't we. Overall for the money I think gears tuner and slicks would be your best value for better times.

Lmao. True that. I spent around $3,100 for all my performance mods including my Flowmaster axle back exhaust system. It ain't hard to spend that much when modding. Lol

That's a awesome price. I don't have slicks yet but if I get them, with my mods I would think I could run 12.7 , 12.8.1/4 mile.

That would be really impressive. I would guess around 13.1. But track conditions are so unpredictable

That would still be cool a 13.1, 1/4 mile. Do you think its realistic to run in the 12's with a pair of slicks and my following mods: I also have an automatic.

Performance tuner
CAI
3:73 gears
One piece aluminum driveshaft
BBK long tube headers
Off road x pipe.

Depending on elevation and the track prep maybe but it's never like I wish it would be. It's always slower than you want it to. But slicks are amazing for track times

I take it a cat back exhaust system is way better for performance HP and torque gains compared to the axle backs?

Neither really are. It's mostly sound. To get noticeable gains get headers and o/r midpipe

What gears do you have? 2.73 or 3:31?

I ran a 13.88 with just a tune and 275/40 nt555s. Also shiftes a bit earlier than I should and felt slow in 3rd. 60' was a 2.1 as well.

I think AM ran an 11 v6 with only tune, had factory tires, 2:73 gears and ran 13.7 1/4 mile

I ran a 9.057 in the 1/8 (which translates to about 13.7 1/4) with just CAI, Tune , and axlebacks.

I've seen conversion charts but how would they know wether your car pulls stronger the first 1/8 or the second 1/8th.
Makes no sense to me. NHRA uses 1.6 conversion which would make you 14.49. The chart I saw used 1.56 which puts you at 14.12. But like I said a conversion chart makes no sense. Gears are going to make a difference too on top of torque band.
