Intake Manifold

If I got the upper and lower intake manifolds ported and polished, would I need a tune see the power gains? If so, how would BAMA know the parameters to adjust?

Ya my guess is absolutely u would need a tune. I would talk to the vendor selling the ported intake. They may have a tune or their tuner can talk with a/m maybe. Bama might be able to tune it just knowing the increase in airflow if your intake is bench tested for flow increase. If u change tunes and go with the vendor for the intake u probably wont ever be able to take advantage of the tunes for life. My last car was so heavily modded it got to the point where a/m told me if I went any further they could not tune it and I would have to dyno tune. Honestly any further would have been ported heads... I had every mod for an n/a 4.6 3v motor at that point that u could do to a stock bottom end.
Talk to bama and the vendor.

Yes, you would see power gains under the curve throughout the whole rpm band.
Bama can tune for it, the way they do it is you data log your car with the intake installed send them the datalog and they make adjustments. Then they send you another tune back and you continue the process till they are happy with your datalog and tune.

Im just doing inquires right now, however I saw a company boasting 20hp gains from port and polish. The company im in contact with didn't state any gains, but the bench test showed 21% increase in airflow. That much increase has to see some gains. I want to get 350rwhp n/a so I need all the help I can get.

I own Cyclone-Performance. We're on FB as it's something I do on the side. I'm a vendor on another, new, late model mustang forum.

Some background: Lifelong car guy. After being in aircraft maintenance in the Air Force, I attended the School of Automotive Machinists where I became a formally trained engine builder and cylinder head porter.

On Aug 2nd, my first customer has an appointment for dyno tuning. I can pm you a link to follow along if you wish.

That would be phenomenal if you could show what a proper port job does for gains.

Also if you could take pictures as well. I imagine the plastic intake manifold cannot be ported to much before it will crack so i am interested to see pictures.

These mod's don't require you to re tune. However, it can't hurt and we can definitely look into this for you! We would have you shoot us over some datalogs and make adjustments based off of that.

I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any questions or need some assistance from me. Our Bama Performance tuning specialists are here in the building Monday-Friday from 9AM-5:30PM EST and Saturday 9AM-5:30PM EST. You can hit them up directly at 888.226.9764 and they'll get you squared away!
