Head Rests

My buddy has a 2012 Convertible Premium V6 and was surprised to find out my base headrests are adjustable front to back not just up and down. I was shocked his are not. Does anyone know if headrests can be had in leather that are adjustable both ways? Thanks in advance

Sounds like the ol'boy got screwed. Someone switched those out, maybe a bad employee or on a test drive.

Tmi makes the fully adjustable. The 2013 was supposed to be the first with them from factory. But it is possible that some of the late 2012s came with them.

Thanks everyone. He's seen the mrt ones but they only have 4 positions and Fords seem to have better adjustment. Will take a look and the others.

Are we talking front seats or back? My back seats allow for the headrests to drop down, in order to fold the seats and clear the back part of the front seats...also the back seat headrests can drop down in order to see better out the rear window.

My front seat headrests have no forward/backward adjustment. I have the leather seats.

Thanks everyone for the info. I had my buddy go to the dealer and take the VIN from a 2014 on the lot to the parts counter.

He ordered 2 headrests. $266.00 each at a discounted price. Yikes.

You're not cool unless you have slanted head rests...

So, how many newer Mustang rentals are going to be missing their movable front headrests and be replaced with some older no adjustable ones?

Part way through the 2012 model year, Ford had changed the headrests to be fully adjustable. My 2012 mustang was built in October of 2011, and it has fully adjustable headrests. Early built 2012 mustangs and previous models do not tilt. The fully adjustable headrests are more of a round shape, whereas the non-tilting models are thinner and square shaped.

That explains that. All the 2012s I had ever seen must have been built early.

Have not tried it, do you just press the button to tilt it backwards toward the trunk?
