Ford pedestal vs. replica pedestal spoilers

I've decided on the pedestal spoiler. I'm either going to get matte or gloss black (probably matte).

Now the question is: do I get the legit ford one (with black plastic inserts underneath) or go for a more cost efficient replica?

Anyone have any pros or cons either way?

Because the Ford pedestal uses studs instead of screws it is easier to mark where the holes need to be drilled. It also seems to be a slight bit crisper. I have a replica (because at the time I bought it was not aware of the difference) and am perfectly happy with it but if I had it to do over...

Ohh okay. So rather than bolt coming down from the pedestals, you put screws up into them? What do you mean crisper?

I mean the shape. The corners and edges seem a bit sharper on the Ford part giving it a more quality-made look. May all be in my head. I've never seen the two side by side for a real comparison.

I'll agree toa point with the "crisper" look. I bought and installed the 3D Carbin GT500 rear spoiler on my2011. The factory GT500 has the removeable center lip (there are two lips for different downforce at the track). The GT500 lip is molded in, so at least had that painted black to give the illusion it was a factory item.

Saved about a hundred bucks, so it was all good for me.
There is usually no replacement for true OEM parts, but most of the aftermarket does a decent job with some quality stuff.

Therer are some junk out there though. the saying "you get what you pay for" is very true here.

Let the buyer beware.
