About to buy - would love some advice

I have been looking everywhere for a V6, manual convertible. I have now found 2. Both are almost 1000 miles from home and I will likely purchase one without seeing it and have it shipped to me. Here is the choice:

2011 with 18000 miles and a pony package or a 2013 with 25000 miles and the comfort package. Both are in great condition. I probably like the color of the '11 a little more - not to mention the wheels. Obviously, I like the newer features/dash of the 13. Last but not least, I am concerned that the '11 is only about 2 months from being out of warranty. I know some of the early MT-82's had some issues and that scares me a bit.

I really appreciate your advice.

If they have 18,000/25,000 miles chances are the transmission is fine. The MT-82 problems really are minuscule and seem to be more prominent in the 5.0's (GT). I really wouldn't worry about that. Just make sure you take it for a good test drive (10-20) miles and if you don't experience any shifting problems then you're fine.

BTW the transmission is covered under the powertrain warranty which is 60k miles. What are the colors and options of each?

I would take the 2013.

Get a carfax and Oasis report on them from the dealer. I would test drive them to be honest. Especially if they were rental vehicles. The 13 has bumper to bumper for another 11K and 35k of powertrain.

I don't know your circumstances for not being able to travel the distance to see/test drive them. But I would not buy a used Mustang without doing so.

Do you have some assurance from the dealer that they are good to go and if not they take it back?

The 2013 is red / black and has comfort package. 25,000 miles

Prices are the same.

I would get the 2011 and you could definitely talk them down unless the 13 is really cheap lol

Price is always a good driver. But that warranty may be worth so much more.

If you like both of them, I'd work the dealer over on the numbers and take the one you like best.

Seems to me for the same price.. you're talking very little difference in mileage in the big scheme of things, I'd go with the 2013, especially if you aren't test driving. The rear end look with the new tail lights and gauges of the 13 are quite an improvement in my opinion

13. Love my black Stang but its a bear to keep clean and scratches easily. That being said I prefer the front end of the 11 over the 13. Don't ever buy a car without driving it.

Your in Georgia, so exactly how is the comfort package:

• 6-way power passenger seat

• Heated front seats

• Heated mirrors with Pony projection lights

going to benefit you? As far as going out of warranty. That's nothing but a crap shoot. There are plenty of vehicles in here that are out of warranty.

The 2013 is two years newer and has 7k more in mileage. The 2001 either has been babied or the owner didn't drive it that much.

I would get the 2011.

13, the tail lights and front end look sick! The 11-12s look good also but 13 all the way! I also remember reading the early 6 speeds,11-12s, had some growing pains that were supposably corrected in the 13+ models. You Can't go wrong with either model IMO they share the same DNA and comes down to what you like. Happy shopping.
