I have 2013 V6 premium and here is my per tank mpg. In 16 fills, my avg is only 21. I drive 40-50% city. I don't pay much attention on city and hwy mpg. At the end of the day, it's the per fill mpg that counts.

Also note that city and bumper to bumper are two different things as well

Correct me if I'm wrong but aren't foreign fuels made a slight different?

Lol OK. Good point on the ethanol... In my figures I used 93 octane ethanol free. Ethanol free gases net higher mpgs FYI due to the gas burning slower than the ethanol. Also using 93 octane nets higher mpgs.

One of us needs to check our tire sizes then, as my speed is close to the 80 MPH mark at 2000 RPM. It's hard to tell exactly what RPM, but its a hair above 2000 RPM. I went with a slightly larger tire, but MPT compensated for that when they built my tune. I also have the 3:31 rear gear setup.

Are you running with stock tire sizes?

Lmao, I find that impossible to believe. My best buddy has a 2013 Boss and he literally creeps when he drives just to save gas and he's averaging 12 mpg in the city. What kind of cities/towns do you all live in? Come over to NYC and we'll start bragging about MPGs.

As stated above... What kind of gas is he using? That's ridiculous mpg

I have the same rpms as him as well. 3:31 auto and its the same with the 18 stokers as well as my new 20". I have always been right at 2k at 70 on the dot.

I've tried to reset the gauge and get it above 30mpg bone stock and after modding and I have to go below 70. It's a pipe dream as far as I am concerned.

I am a believer that the 2:73 gears are needed to get over 30mpg consistently. That and good conditions all around.

I know I went 80 on a trip to Chattanooga and had fun pulling a mountain or 2 and I averaged 26.5 out of that tank. For reference I would do the same trip bone stock and averaged the same too. This makes me happy that I did all of my mods and the car feels like a totally different car and I have kept the same mpg (it has actually went up slightly over all).

Though my work has not been able to get anything but 87 ethanol free this summer they will be getting 93 back in September sometime more than likely. I may get a gas card and run a few tanks to see how it does.

Not trying to start a forum debate or anything, i have no reason to lie, 21 is what I've been averaging when I do the math when ever I fill up. So unless I'm doing my math wrong (division really isn't all that hard), that's what my numbers are telling me. I fill up with 89 ethanol, in medium traffic most days, when ever i get the chance at a open lane I floor it, so... I dunno what else to tell ya.

No way that could ever happen with mine. Like I said I have never been able to hold 30mpg in mine over 70 at any point in 17k driven.

Maybe I got a dud

Tell me about it, I had to do the double take when I glanced at the mpg! Lol. Funny thing is yes I drive it more on the hard side, but I haven't redlined it since filling it, well maybe just once or twice. Lol. Maybe I'll change the mpg gauge to something else so I don't have to see that terrible number!

BOB, Mud thinks your car is one of the special ones to be getting that mpg! In my semi-rural driving I get 22-24.....it is a dissapointment I was hoping for 25-26. The highest I've seen on an all interstate run with the 3.31 and the summer only Pirellis was 26.5 @ 75-80.

Nice looking ride btw.

I echo your sentiments. With the drive I do I was hoping for 27-28 but im getting. 24-25 and sometimes 23 when i do more city than normal.
I averaged 29 going 75 on a trip after all my mods for over 200 miles. Then I returned to my normal drive. For the last part of the tank. I got 27.5 out of that tank (best ever). If I could hit that on my dd I would be stoked but I still love the car. It's about a 50/50 split of highway and city.

I just checked fuelly and my average this year so far is 24.9mpg.

That's a good mpg. Highest I've got for a tank is only 22.6 mpg on a 3.31. I would love to get 24-25 mpg per fill. I am not sure if a tune can get me there. I am still using PP tune and mostly driven on sport mode.

Yikes, I was hoping to switch from 2.73s to 3.73s, but that sounds like I might get a huge drop in mpg?! I'm kinda liking my 23/31mpg right now

I have given up on the MPG's for my car. Almost exact same commute it varies by up to 4 MPG. But it's the same for my Forte and Focus (not by as much though).

Gas in this state is absolute garbage.

Which state is that? IL here, prices aren't great tbh, especially close to Chicago

How are some of you getting such low mpg on the highway/interstate?

When I was test driving the Mustang with the 3.7, 6spd /2.73, I was averaging 33 mpg on the highway with the cruise set at 62 mph according to the readout on the dash.

Hell, my 99 Z28 with a large cam (237/242 .603"/.609" on 112 lsa), T-56, 3.42 rear axle and super crappy tune is pulling down 26+ mpg with 75% highway / 25 % city. Given, the Fbody T-56 has a very tall overdrive 6th gear (.5:1) which puts the car at 1300 rpm @ 60 mph and 2200 rpm @ 100 mph.

As for ethanol free gas vs 10% ethanol gas, my current DD a 98 Dodge Avenger ES V6 gets about 23 mpg on 10% ethanol gas and 26 mpg on 100% gas. So that is a significant difference.

BTW, just got an email saying that my Mustang has finished production and is awaiting shipping.

Ish, I'm sure the mpg between 75-80 and cruise @ 62 is 3-4mpg

Kutch, the main place you will see a mpg drop with gears is at cruising on the hwy your city mpg may not change at all. the problem is you will be doing whatever % change in gears higher rpms when in 6th. Unless you do a good bit of hwy do not let the mpg stop you.

Yea, most of my driving is on the highway :/ so I'll be holding off for now.

I'm sure it can, if your oil's old and sluggish.

Very good point. Garbage gas nets garbage mpgs

Usually low prices=low quality gas. You get what you pay for. I pay quite a bit more for the gas I use but to me it's worth it. I have paid up to $1 more per gal just to have good gas in my car. When I pay this much for a vehicle I treat it with respect, same goes for the oil. 100% synthetic oil. ← which also could result in better mpgs
