it's significantly cheaper to get it ported n polished.

Yeah it's pricey, no doubt. But I don't regret buying it. If porting looks good to you then by all means port away. It is cheaper but I have learned by experience, " you get what you pay for". Talk to some of the guys and girls who have ported their manifold and tb, I'm sure they have good ideas where to start.
