Supercharger?

My names will. I'm looking into a present for my sons birthday. Being that his love is his 2013 v6 auto mustang I figure somthing for his car should suffice.
I'm looking into these prochargers and they seem to be reliable and a great addition. But with me having a gto supercharged I know from experience my son hates the loud squeals. I wated a few YouTube vids to see if I could measure the sound. Some sound a bit stealthy. But most sound pretty noticeable even with thehood closed. So my question to you is what's your thoughts or experience with the sound volume of a supercharger. I'm not expecting stock sounds. But I'm not looking for loud belts and sounds ofbad bearings either

Why hide the sound of a boosted car? Makes it even more badass and sounds sexy,if you supercharge it you may need to replace the internals as well, just so it can take the boost and not blow up

Second, will you please adopt me?

That whine is just part of the experience my friend...

Do you want to adopt another son? I may be older than you though, so it might look funny!

If you don't want a loud sound definetly don't get a Kenne Bell, those things scream like crazy. Prochargers and Vortechs have a distict sound at idle but in the rpm range they are quieter than twin screw and roots style superchargers.

Damn i wish my dad would buy me a supercharger for my 3.7. Too bad he already thinks the car is fast enough and maybe too fast...but a car can never be too fast 😉
Lucky son...gets his dad to buy him superchargers and make his car faster...too bad hes a little picky and doesnt like the sound of them...hmmm

Power without the noise

Read this:
2011 - 2014 V6 Mustang Single Turbo System

A turbo is what you need if you don't like the noise from the super charger. I personaly like the procharger and the sounds they make.

I'm 70 so you can adopt me as one of your dads and buy me a procharger on Fathers day.

Ronnie

Lol tryna figure how to tell my wife I was such a rolling stone.

So with the procharger and the gears mentioned above. How loud would one be expecting. And without boost I'm being told the best gear ratio in order to keep a strong top end and a GOOD acceleration is 3.55's true?

Well since Kenne Bell isn't interested in a kit for a V6 that won't be an issue!

Would be nice because I like positive displacement blowers, but no kits are out there, and the only one that was talked about doesn't seem to be on the horizon now. When I asked KenneBell about measurements and trying to mock something up the reply I got was "we aren't interested in doing something with the V6".

The valley between the heads is pretty narrow so it is going to be hard to do a positive displacement blower and intercooler.

A turbo would be a great option, but this is for his kid and I don't think the Hellion is a good option, because of the placement of the turbo. It is mounted low and in the fender well - two issues, if it is a daily driver that isn't a great location, and second with it mounted low it requires a scavenger pump so one more spot of potential failure unlike a higher mounted turbo where gravity will take care of the return. Again, this is for the original posters kid so not a great option.

Which takes you back to the procharger - a proven application already

No, and they aren't interested they told me. Wouldn't even consider selling one for my own R&D, said they simply weren't interested.

And no one else has a positive displacement either. One guy was going to develop one and I spoke with him - he needed a car to use for R&D, but I couldn't get a feel for how much we were talking about for my cost, just a vague "discount" percentage so decided not to send my car to him.

Even for the 4.0 there was only one option for a positive displacement blower, and I loved the Xcharger Xtreme on my 2006. But no plans for a successor for the 3.7.

How will this affect his insurance? You did check to see if the premiums are going to go up?

Vortech doesn't have a kit for the 3.7 though - and have said they have no plans on producing one either. The only supercharger out so far is the Procharger kit.

go to the procharger website and they give you options like helical gears or not and other upgrades. it would be wise to get the procharger from there and not AM unless AM offers those upgrades. I forgot.
