Unintended positive side-effect of K&N drop in

I have a Roush axle-back on my 2013 V6. Often between gears when I push the clutch, there would be this loud pop sound. I installed the K&N drop in today and noticed there was no more popping. All the way home from work I was trying hard to get it to pop, and I only got it to do it once, and even that was barely noticable. Before the K&N, it was very loud and pretty annoying.

I just went for another drive down the street and no popping. I have no idea why the filter would effect this, but I'm so glad I got the K&N for this reason alone. So if anyone else has this setup with the popping problem, try the K&N, maybe it will have the same effect for you. I'm going to keep testing throughout the week, but so far so good!

The pop noise sounds like the exhaust was sucking in some cold air during a shift, or during you being off the right pedal. This cold air would mix with the warm to hot exhaust and cause the "pop" sound, usually it was more of a "pop, pop, pop" though.
