Rust on my headers.

So I was cleaning my engine today (which has 3100kms on it) and i noticed theres some rust forming on my drivers side header. Quite a bit actually. The passenger side looked fine just some discoloring that im assuming is from heat. Im not a rocket scientist but i know somethin aint right here. The car is a month old!

I'm guessing that you have chrome headers?

Another added benefit to having ceramic headers over chrome. They don't rust or discolor. They also do a better job in heat reduction compared to chrome. But at least its inside the engine bay and very few people look in there. Lol

I believe they are cast iron that have a high carbon content that makes them rust easily.

Those are the stock cast iron manifolds. They are extremely prone to rust.

Yep, Rust is normal

If you think that rust is awful just wait until you put your car on a lift and see the rust under the car such as the axles Etc.Cast iron rusts but it is normal and won't really hurt anything. It's called "Surface Rust"

It'll rust no matter what. It's only surface rust. Cast iron sucks. I didn't go with chrome headers cuz I didn't want discoloring after awhile.

Just drive the car. If you're worring about rust, then ride a bike!

well.. the manifolds are made out of cast IRON!!!!!!
iron is going to rust
sorry, but there isn't a way around it. unless you painted them, but then it would retain more heat, which you don't want P
go ahead and upgrade.
get some nice ceramic coated Long or Short tube headers. (No, we're not going to start a long vs short tube thread) lol

Absolutely. When I lived in NJ I did my rear axle in Hamerite. It lasted years and looked new even when I drove it across country and had it here a year...

A small can and a brush with the car on jack stands will do it. You will have a ton left over. Cost would be like 15 bucks.
