Next week I'm getting the rear gear changed from the 2.73 to the 3.31.

I'm paying $560 parts + labor and $99.95 for the reflash at the dealership.

Here's my reasoning for going with 3.31 rather than all of my other choices:

1) I drive a ton of highway miles

2) I get to keep a Ford tune on the car, so they can't bust my chops about warranty work.

3) I save $270 by Ford doing the tune rather than me buying the tuner.

Good choice man, and you dont have to worry about warranty being voided, when u said ford tune, is that the same as bama tune or some other tuner? Are talking about the procal? Let me know cos im interested, i have the premium so i already have the 3:31 gears. Thanks

Thanks man.

It's going to be a Ford tune in that it is the actual factory tune from Ford for the 3.31 gearing. I'm not buying a tuner or anything. Just bringing it to the dealership and they will reflash it.

Are you sure you have the 3.31? The premium and performance packs are 2 different packages. Take a check under your car, there will be a sticker on the differential saying 2.73 or 3.31.

Yeah, if you have the 3.31 gear, then you already have the tune.

Have you talked to your dealer about it?

yeah they told me it will void it and even if i put it back to stock they will know about it.. Even if the tune is not the cost of the problem, im sure they will find a way to make it look bad. They are strict as hell. Dont wanna deal with it..

I say hang onto that dealer. I checked with three different ones and all told me my warranty would be voided even if they did the work with Ford parts. Good luck.

Vig,

good call. I've driven both and it's a huge differance. Just wait till you get on it for the 1st time and wind it out to the top of 3rd. This will become your favorite gear, the passing moves you can do are great for this little 6.

Should be a little white sticker on the right side of the rear end pumpkin with the 'gear ratio' on it.
