My 1/8th time

I did 8.6754 and 74.40 MPH
No Tune but good hookup.
Back tires at 25PSI--Fronts at 38PSI and did not get them wet. (Stay out of the wet stuff with street tires)

I have the Airaid CAI and Magnaflow streets an Automatic with 2.73 rear.

I'm sure you will do much better with the tune.

Ronnie

You two must be on a lot better track because I'm running 9.0 at 81.51 mph. I don't see how you get 8.6 running 74

Rear axle ratio's are going to play a huge factor with the times.

With the track I'm at, you can't hook at all with 3.55 but my 2.73 hooked ldescent. But I blew out my bushing on the lower control arms.

My best 1/8th mile time with stock street tires is 9.20 @ 78.33 with 3.55 gears and BMR lower trailing arms to kill the wheel hop. 2.076 60' NO under hood mods. All stock.

Drag racing is a lot different then track racing

If running street tires it seems the 2.73 ratio automatics 3.7 V6 have the advantage due to a lighter engine up front and way easier to hook up. The 3.31 and lower ratio cars have trouble hooking up. When I ran that night the V8 GT's were not hooking up at all.

But don't think your 3.7 will be faster then a V8 5.0 in the real world from a roll.

Put some drag radials on a V8 or even a V6 with low ratio gears and you will see that these Mustangs are all very quick and surprising.

Drag racing is nice really inexpensive fun unless you get obsessed with trying to be the fastest car at the track. It is fun just to run and not worry if you get beat or you win. Just enjoy the acceleration and have fun.

The 2.73 gears are good for the 1/8th mile. You end up at the finish at the top of second.

With 3.31 or higher gears you need to upshift into third.

That being said my best time before my headers/catless h pipe was a 8.83@81.68 mph w/ a 2.19 60". If I could hook up better it would be a 8.6. With my mods now if I could hook up I think the car has a 8.5@83 + mph in it. Gotta get back to the 1/8th mile and see

My best was a 9.057 @ 80mph. That was with 2.73s CAI & bama 91 tune. When I went back with LTs/X pipe I couldn't hook & got worse times! Now I have 275 rear tires so I need to go back & see if I can hook any better!

Tires are everything in the 1/4 mile. Your tires have everything to do with a best run. It won't come without them. I use BMR lower control arms and they wiped out the wheel hop issue and really set the tire. If you can launch above 3000 rpm you'll get the numbers. It's hard to do though on stock tires. My 4.23 first gear (6 speed manual) with 3.55s is nuts. Over 3000 and I spin the tires. Using Hoosier drag radials next spring. Looking for a 1.9 something 60'.
