Parents ruin all of the fun

So as some of you may know, I had a nice list of mods i was going to do to my car. After getting enough money my parents decide to tell me that im not allowed to do anything to it/use my savings i had gotten. To be honest i chose the mustang specifically so i could customize it and make it original. At this point i wish i bought a truck :/

Why not? Maybe it's still under warranty and they don't want you to ruin it

Did you buy it? Is the loan in your name? Is the title in your name? Then its their car they have more than every right to say you cannot modify it.

Its not a matter of the warranty as most of it was exterior. They were fine with it until today which is odd.

How about work, save, buy your own then you can whatever you want with it.
If you dont want to work for your own then dont complain when one is kindly bought for you and you're told what you can and cannot do with it.

here we go again...

---------- Post added at 08:16 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:14 PM ----------

If you also paid most for it why didnt you get the loan in your name to build your credit? Doesn't make sense. Even with not much credit if you paid for "most" of it dealers would approve the loan. Doesn't add up...

So did you ask your parents why they said no? They're not gonna say it for no reason. I used to think the opposite but they are actually very wise.

Maybe they want you to spend it more wisely. You don't want to be a mod fiend starving yourself for some damn rims lol

Maybe ask for a compromise. 1 or 2 things for stang...money in savings. Earn some more, some for stang, money in savings.

In the long run, modifying cars is frivolous unless you're making a living off of it. They may not want your goals to be working hard just to obtain things. Things that are easily lost, stolen or destroyed. Maybe the, "no" was so you could cool your jets on blowing a huge wad of cash that you earned.

So, What the heck???????????????????????????????

There sure ain't a thing wrong with a factory stock Mustang of any kind. lt is still a very cool desirable car and fun to drive. Just keep it clean and maintained and enjoy having it.

How about some pictures of your Mustang?

Ronnie

A stock car will hold it's value over a modded car.

Do the cheap mods any way like the louvers and scoops. What are they going to do, permanently take your car away that you put money up for and sale it. That's a lot of work as a parent to prove a point.

Maybe they will loosen up on those things at that point. Just a thought, if you are good kid, is it possible they want to do those things for you and surprise you with it. You never know especially since your pops wanted you to tune and CAI it.

You must not have a teenager. I'd sale it so fast his head would spin if he challenged my authority. And the deprecation would come out of his pocket.

I have 2 teenagers

Lucky for me I have a 13 and 18 year old girls But I guess I'm just thrifty with my money.....If the kid put up the money like he said he did, me taking that away from him, who worked hard to be able to afford what he wanted is just beyond my personal sacrifice. Kid or not, the money he put up for it I would owe him no matter what and then the money lost in getting rid of it is just not worth the punishment factor. It's other ways to punish a kid without burning a hole in my pocket to prove a point.

Besides, I got my build list to finish and there's no way I'd let my kid F that up for me......LOL
