New member, tune question

New to the site but long time member and contributor over on Corral. Just picked up a '13 Premium V6 auto for a DD and was looking at either a Steeda or Bama tuner. Learned years ago not to race my daily driver so I am not looking for max power but for better drivability and more MPG would be great. Currently getting 31.4(hand calculated) on 80 mile round trips of mixed city/hwy driving. Throttle response I know can be increased with tune and better shifting is a must. Wife just bought a K&N cai for it(not installed). So the question, how many of you who actually are trying to get good mileage out of these cars have seen an increase with a tune? I see a lot of posts where people are getting worse due to tune but has anyone set out to try to max economy, if at least for one tank and seen an increase? If so, who's tune and how much of an increase?

I went bama. It depends how heavy your foot becomes though and how aggressive of a tune. On a street tune with 3.73's at the same time I picked up 3mpg

And welcome

That is impressive. Car has 2.73's and I am babying it around trying to max out economy for now. Every time my wife gets in it though the computer is down about 3mpg.

The mod bug is addicting though. And you wont care about mpg, just more hp!

Welcome to MustangEvolution and Congratulations on your new Sixxer! Definitely post up some pictures, we'd love to check it out.

For every Bama Tune we ask you 19 questions about your specific Mustang, including your unique mods and style of driving. This info helps us write custom tunes from the ground-up for your Mustang's mods that will give you the most horsepower that we can safely deliver. We're also constantly developing our tunes! Between our 14 different Project Mustangs and tons of street/track and dyno testing (on our in-house Dynojet 224xLC), we're looking for any minor tweaks to be made that can benefit you guys. We're also part of Fords Technology Transfer Program & Work very closely with Ford to insure that all of our tunes are perfect!

I noticed a gain of 3-4 MPG in my 2011 GT when installing my Bama custom tune. I used to get 16 MPG city and now I get around 19.6 MPG when making a conscious decision. I'm not exactly sure what my Highway MPG is, I don't really drive highway much to calculate it!

Hope this helps! Definitely let me know if you have any questions or need some assistance in the near future. Our Bama Performance tuning specialists are here in the building Monday-Friday from 9AM-5:30PM EST and Saturday 9AM-5:30PM EST. You can hit them up directly at 888.226.9764 and they'll get you squared away!

I want a tune so badly, but with my luck, the day after I get the tune, something will break. Then I'll be screwed.
