Best tune mpg

Have loaded on my car the 87 bama street tune. Love it. But my highway mpg is going down. I can tell this because my needle is going more left than right now.

What's the best tune for mpg? The 89 performance, or a higher octane street tune

Higher octane street tune.

---------- Post added at 01:13 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:11 PM ----------

I have 93 for all of mine so its easier to change tunes often and better for your car overall. I picked up 3mpg with gears too which should have dropped me some. So depending on your driving habits it should increase a decent amount. But.......its a mustang. I enjoy fpg rather than mpg. (Fun per gallon)

Thats probably the best bet. Do I have to pay for a 93 street and performance tune? Are the mpg's worth it? I'm trying to almost hyper mile this thing. I get 35 already. But 28 highway at 65 with 2.73 gearing and automatic.

I have bama tunes btw.

Whitelightning, your in the same boat as me with trying to get better fuel mileage. I saw in a previous post you were going with a Steeda cai. Care to share what mods you have done to get 35 and is that hand calculated or what the cars computer is showing? Thanks

I have an airaid cold air intake. Michelin defender tires, 2 years old and still amazing tread, flowmaster 40 catback 2 1/2 exhaust and resonator delete. Have 2.73 gears. I have the 87 bama tune. Haven't played with any of the other tunes, but I may try the 89 a few tanks. If that's about the same, I'll switch all my tunes to 93 and go from there.

I drive strictly at 65 mph and free pedal it. Let's say you're going up a hill, try and get the car to go up the hill with the most speed and in it's highest gear. Naturally, you'll lose speed in 6th, and you drive like this up the hill until you hit a low speed and absolutely must downshift. Once you've reached the top of the hill, and ecomodders nightmare, you coast Down in neutral as to put no wear on the gear box.

My calculations are based upon computer *boo *boo! But I reset it every tank and every 2 days. I trust it to an extent. Hence why it's there. Before the tunes I could go almost 12 days without refueling. Now.... A mere 5 days. That's my best way to tell.

I would recommend 93 Octane if you want to get the best MPG in your Mustang. It's much better for your car! I run our 93 Hybrid tune on my 2011 GT and get around 18.6 MPG City and 21 MPG highway with a pretty big V8, this is obviously driving with gas mileage in mind. If I'm heavy in the throttle, I see more like 14 MPG.

No, you don't have to pay for any sort of tune upgrades or revisions. That's the beauty of free tunes for life! Just give the Bama team a call and we'll gladly help you out. Our Bama Performance tuning specialists are here in the building Monday-Friday from 9AM-5:30PM EST and Saturday 9AM-5:30PM EST. You can hit them up directly at 888.226.9764 and they'll get you squared away!
