Welcome aboard! Glad to have you here!

Just hang out on this section and read the many, many posts on tuners/tunes/CAI combo kits, exhaust, turbo installs, and more.

There's always a mod topic going on each day here.

Welcome aboard and congrats on the new mustang. What's your budget you are willing to spend on mods to make your stang faster? That's the key factor before suggesting mods. Lol

I hear ya on that bro so your willing to spend money to make it faster. Excellent! How much money are you willing to spend? Give a specific number , that way we can help suggest mods that will fit your budget. No sense in suggesting things that cost 10 grand if you have a 400 dollar mod budget. Lol

Great start kid. For 1,000 dollars that's easy on first two mods. Get a performance tuner and 3:73 or 4:10 gears. Performance tuner 379 dollars. Gears with install 600.00. Best two power mods

alright thanks man I appreciate it! What kind of performance tuner do you recommend? Also which would you prefer 3:73 or 4:10?

I have an Sct performance tuner and love it. I would highly recommend a Sct tuner brand. As far as gears go. Do you have auto or manual?

I have a auto along with 3:73 gears and love them. Since we have 6 speed transmissions I could of easily gone with 4:10 gears but at the time I was apprehensive about going with that gear ratio. After having 3:73 gears , No worries for 4:10 however I love my 3:73's and certainly not changing them at this point. The cost is the same no matter what gear ratio you choose.

Of course if you have a manual transmission I can't comment on how 3:73 gears would be. No matter, a gear upgrade is a must for our V6's

yeah I have auto! And I really appreciate the help! Now is there a real difference between the 3:73 and 4:10? I just don't a lot about cars! Lol

Well that all depends on the driving you do. The 3.73 and 4.10 are going to obliterate your 0-60 time (overstatement but you get the point) but the downsides might be your MPG if you do a lot of highway driving.

Do you drive in the city mostly? If so you might want to consider the 4.10 with an auto. If there's a lot more highway driving you may want to think about the 3.73. Either way you'll love either of them.

Its my understanding there is little difference between 3:73 or 4:10 gears on mpg and or rpm's. When running 80 mph I'm around 2650 rpm's with my 3:73 gears
I'm guessing 80 mph with 4:10's would put one at 2750 rpms.

I'm getting 26 mpg highway with my 3:73 gears so would imagine 4:10 gears would get 24 to 25 mpg. This of course depends on how hard you push that gas pedal. Lmao.

Acceleration wise from off the line, I would think both 3:73 or 4:10 gears are very close with the 4:10's having a hair more kick in the balls feeling. Since both gear ratios are same price I would go with 4:10's of course this could greatly change if you ever plan to go supercharger, then 3:73 gears may be better. I vote 4:10's for you but at the very minimum 3:73 gears. No less bro. Lol

The performance tuner is huge and could never not have one. Its night and day difference. The factory shift points are horrid, sloppy and soft. The throttle response is at best, okay. You will think you have a different vehicle when its tuned. Your car pulls way harder, faster acceleration off the line, mid and high power.

Glad to help. That's what were here for. Keep in mind, you will get may different opinions on which gear ratio to go with, which tuner too buy. Which tuning company to go with and etc. I think we can all agree on that no matter what tuner you go with its way better than factory tuning. The 2:73 gears are horrible for performance and a taller gear is must needed for our V6 which lacks in down low torque.

When choosing a rear gear ratio, it's best to choose based on what driving do you do most (city verses highway), and if miles per gallon (MPG) matter to you. A taller gear ratio, such as the 4:10's are going to lower the MPG; you'll notice this if you were used to running the 2:73's. Of course your performance from a dead stop is going to be more fun with the 4:10's, but the highway cruising is going to be lowered for top speed.

Most here agree that the 3:73's are great for street with the occasional highyway cruising. If you do lots of highway with minimal street, then consider a lower ratio.

I drive 300 to 400 miles a week on the highway, so I left in the 3:31 that came with the car. I average about 23 to 24 MPG on the highway, and that's with a MPT 93 octane tune.

Very true but funny how things work for everybody's cars because I have 3:73 gears with a 91 MPT tune and average 26 mpg highway and you get 24 mpg with 3:31 gears. Lol.
