Nitrous for 2013

I can not seem to find a nitrous system for my 2013 anywhere and would like to run some. Is it possible to use one that fits a 2012 with minor fabrications like the procharger? I also am a complete noob when having to do with nitrous so if someone with some experience explain toe me everything I need to run safe? Thanks in advance

Besides the usual solenoids, lines, WOT switch, bottle, etc.., you will need to have colder spark plugs, have a purge (if the kit doesn't come with it), a bottle warmer/blanket to keep bottle PSI even, RPM window switch, a tune if you really plan on spraying a nice 100 - 150 shot, boost a pump for more fuel (not sure how good the stock pump is), a blow down/ vent tube (might be in kit), maybe a remote bottle opener depending on where you will be mounting the bottle.

*EDIT* Also, forgot about having a wideband O2. With nitrous, this is one the most important thing. It lets make sure that everything is working properly and that you aren't leaning out the engine. IF you go lean on a big shot and don't catch it, your engine is toast.*EDIT*

That should be most of it. It can get seriously costly. Most people see the kits at $500 -$800 and think that is all they will need. I think I have about $1500 in my setup on the Z28.

Also, make sure the solenoids are capable of flowing more than whatever size shot you plan on running. So if you plan on a 100 shot, make sure the system is capable of doing 125 or better yet 150. It's just for peace of mind.

I also know of several people who purchased a Zex kit which claimed up to 150 shot, yet on the dyno, they were only getting just over 100whp because the kit was rated as crank hp and not rwhp. My Z28 runs a 150 shot and it actually produces 152 rwhp and 246rwtq because the kit I have is actually rated in rwhp gains. So depending on the setup you buy, there can be a huge difference.

You already push almost 500 to the wheels. I would be worried to add more unless your motor is built. I would assume the 11-12 kit fits the 13.

Any kit for the 11 and up will work with your 13. Stay away from zex. Either go with nitrous express or nitrous outlet. All there kits for the coyotes are good for 400 hp. 100 shot and below you can run stock plugs. 150 and above need to run a colder plug such as the NGK ix gaped at (.35) 150 and below is good for a stock motor. Make sure you get a window switch and a air/fuel gauge and a good tune.

I appreciate all the info guys. It really helped me a lot. I do have a fully forged engine so I am not necessarily worried about blowing anything. I put aside around $2k for this setup. Is this enough? I plan on 150 shot I think. Rapinator, from your other posts I've read, you are running a 300 shot? Your engine is fully forged I assume. Even though it is fully forged do you ever have to worry about blowing anything and just curious how much rwhp is that? Thanks

Yes im fully forged. On the 300 it made a little over 700 on 93 pump gas. I no longer have the bottle anymore now its just NA on e85. Will be going turbo verry soon. As far as blowing it up again yes it crossed my mind a few times, its just part of it though.

that's sick bro. I don't have a 5.0 though. I am procharged currently doing 502 rwhp but I'm probably going to stick with 150 shot. could I seeing 650 or is that unrealistic? is $2k enough?

13? You have the 3.7? Yes if you are at 500 now and you run a 150 you can get there. I would run e85 though instead of pumpgas. 2k will be enough. Just make sure its a good quality kit. A bottle heater. Window switch. I assume you already have a air/fuel gauge.

Why not just crank the boost up? It would beat having to switch back and forth between tunes.

I was going to do both. I'm in between tuners though. my current tune is complete sh*t. you think I should just forget the bottle and increase boost? I was going to increase boost and use the bottle.

I would just jump the boost up. Because with the bottle you will have 2 separate tunes.

I did not know this...if I have a procharger and nitrous I can't just have one tune? isn't that kinda stupid?

They will have to pull timing out for the nitrous. Which means you will be down on power without it. So on the nitrous tune you will be making 480 or so off the bottle vs the 502. Thats why you have 2 separate tunes

---------- Post added at 01:26 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:24 PM ----------

If you run a smaller shot 50-75 they may be able to keep you with onw tune. Just depends on what happens when they get it on the dyno

Yes I already sold my kit. At first were going to stay at 700-750.

Never had the car at the track for 1/4 times. They do roll events and arm drop street racing at the track. Never ran for 1/4 mile times. Car was built as a street car

Usually if you get enough people together, your local track may consider it. Just go talk to them about it.

What kind of nitrous system? A plate behind the TB, a single nozzle in front of the TB or a nozzle for each port? In any case you have to pull timing out because the burn rate will be so much faster with nitrous. Are you running an intercooler? I would contact Pro Charger for their opinion on the added nitrous idea. Be prepared for a short answer.

I was thinking the same thing as Rapinator126 was. Since your fully forged, why not turn the boost up on the supercharger to make 650 rwhp and forget the nitrous.
