My next 2nd gear question

I've started to become well aware of how much the mt82 hates the cold. My question is can anyone explain to me why 2nd seems to be the only one that acts up? Mine is a 2014 v6 so I'm pretty sure I don't have skip shift but it sometimes acts as though it's not there just blocked. Of course when I do a ride along at the dealer it's fine. Does anyone else experience this and if so help me understand why it's only 2nd?

Not having seen your earlier ? my .02:

1. make sure when shifting you are not just pulling the shifter back but keeping pressure to the left to overcome the centering springs any time you shift you need to compensate for them or use them when aiming for 3rd or 4th

2. Consider swapping out the OEM tranny fluid. I suggest saving the OEM fluid in a clean container to put back in if you need wtty work (paranoia)

My last question was in December that's probably why. I've been contemplating doing the fluid swap but it just seemed weird that 2nd is the only affected gear

Lets face it. For normal street driving the MT82 is OK. But, for a new car in 2014 the MT82 is a POS. When this thing dies, it's a TREMEC for me. It shifts like a farm tractor with a zillion hours on it. How I drag race this deal is still a wonderment to me. A better trans would yield 2/10s and change easily. For 20K, it is what it is. A TK500 would be perfect.

When it's warm it seems fine I just feel like when I shift to 2nd during the cold like I get caught on something. I miss my tr-3650.

I forgot to add I'm using a steeda tri ax as well as one of there brackets. I had the Barton variants of both but felt as though I got smoother shifts with steeda.

For what it is worth, my 2011 MT shifts fine when it is warm but cold weather brings the difficult or crunchy shifting to 2nd gear too. 1st is a little better than 2nd and the rest don't seem to mind the cold. I can't answer "why" but you are not alone.

This morning the temp was -16F. I could shift into first, second and fourth. Third, fifth and sixth were a no go until I had drove over 5 miles on the highway.

My issue is usually 5th being completely unusable until the car is up to normal temps, then all is fine.

I will have a spare T56 in a few months, might see about putting it into my car and ridding myself of this worthless POS MT82. It's the worst manual transmission I have ever driven in a vehicle less than 20 years old.

I really think it is a shifter problem, not the whole of the -82. After adding a MGW, all is perfect. 7100 rpm shift in all gears at the track flawlessly.
