Well considering the only Cobra made in 2000 was the Cobra R you have a LOT of work to do.

That's a 4V motor man... If he has ANYTHING done to it I think you are hosed. That car can get in the 12's pretty easy. It's like 315 hp 340 or 350 tq stock and bolt ons will have that to the wheels. I think 3.55 gears stock too.
You would need full bolt ons including long tubes and off road x pipe, 3.73 or even 4.10 gears and an aluminum drive shaft.
OR you could do an intake, x pipe, tune, 3.73's, and 100 shot. THAT would do it...

if budget is flexible skip the boltons and go straight to procharger or turbo. you'd have no problem beating him unless he has some real engine work done.

Your going to need Forced Induction plus add Front Grill Fog Lights

Why do you need to beat this 2001 Cobra? Is it worth ~$3.5-$6K+ to do so?

Its not always that simple...Many a Conquistador or Barbarian might have planed to storm a King's Castle to take his Queen for themselves; because they were Men. But what determines whether that happens 4 Centuries ago or Today, is how much cost it was going to take [killed soldiers in the battle] vs. the satisfaction of the result [having the Queen]

So the question remains, is it worth 3-6K+ to beat this Cobra?

Good analogy!

There is an undeserved mysticism with NA Cobras.

They were a high 13 second car from the factory, same as the 3.7 with the 3.31 gears.

The Cobras put down around 270rwhp stock, so does a manual 3.7 stock.

Most magazines ran the 2001 Cobra in 13.8 @ 104, the 3.7 PP does it in 13.7 @ 102.

So, why do most people think NA Cobras are fast?

Stock for stock, the better driver will likely win. Mod for mod, the Cobra should win.

I see no reason why a tuned 3.7 couldn't easily pull on a stock 01 Cobra.

Just stick some Cobra emblems on the sides and that should be plenty to beat the 01 Cobra.

What you say is true, but here in my town there isn't a NA Cobra that old that is still bone stock. In 15 years of time, lots get done to them. And they respond well, according to the Summer Friday Night owers of them at the street meet strip mall hangouts. Most are talking 12s or better. Some are FI added as well.

My v6 is finished so i was looking at 98-01 Cobras until i noticed their performance was pretty close to my v6. I figured it wasn't 'worth it to me', to dump a lot of $$$ on an old worn out Cobra that would, after a rebuild only perform close to my v6. Just my opinion

On the MOAR part, have you done any battle field analysis or cost vs performance charts in project management? Have you had to deal with 5 employee budget over 500K?

Have you watched what a city like Pawnee Indiana has to go thru to build a park?

...Just Kidding [JK]

As long as the vid clearly shows this was done at a track, and not a public street, post away. If it's determined that it is public street racing, it will be promptly removed, and the person that posts it will be issued an infraction, since all were warned with this post.

This site has a zero tolerance with street racing posts. Please, let's obide by that rule.
