Question idle help

Hi guys,

What the normal idle RPM for a 2014 Auto?

Here is a picture of my bb at idle.

I have 2014 gt, and that is exactly where mine idles so I think it should be the same

I have been getting some vibration through the steering wheel so I didn't know if that is normal or not

I have a 2012 manual and mine did the same. I just replaced coils and raised my idle by 100 and it's smooth now. Haven't had a problem since. I thought it was my a/c at first but it wasn't.

How does one raise or lower the idle on our Sct tuner. I don't think I have seen that option for my bama hybrid tune.

Depends on your dealership. Talk to them if you are worry about your warranty. And yes they could find out how many times you tuned the car.

My idle is that. 700 rpm. It'll dip down to 600-650 and shake some then come back up. Been playing with it to see if the accessory stuff is making it do this or not. I have 87,000 miles on mine and is bolt on and tuned.

on the diablosport trinity tuner to raise your idle rpm you go to performance then it should be under one of the settings to change your idle rpm and neutral rpm. i think its set at 650 or 700 at default i raised mine to 800 on both idle rpm and neutral rpm. Also by raising the idle rpm if you have longtube headers you will see less dips or stuttering during idle that happens with longtubes.

The idle comes up a bit whenever the AC is operated....

My idle is at the same as the OP, but I do not feel any sort of engine vibration in the steering wheel. I too operate with a tune (MRT 83 octane), but did not request them to change the idle, nor have I looked to see if my tuner allows for me to change it. Since it is not an issue with my 2011, I've not had to look into it.

But it does make me wonder if I could...

A symptom, yes.

Go here for more symptoms of a dirty MAF, and the proper way to clean it (instructions mention to "pluck it" out of the air filter box, but Our Mustangs have it held into the air tube (runs between the throttle body and air filter box) with two screws):

Yeah I know where it's at. Thanks for posting the link. Gonna take a look at it as it may be causing my idle woes. I've took it out and put it back Ina number of times now and having a CAI with oiled filter makes sense it might be a little dirty.

ON your SCT tuner, before you put the tune from anyone in, there is a message about changing things. When you go into that there should be a list of items that can be changed that the tune maker did not block out. My past Bama tunes didn't have anything blocked out.

You should see Idle Neutral, Idle Drive in the list. On another point, many folks pay money to have tunes that Idle "Rough", like ghost cams emulating the old school Huff and Puff Idles of the 60s and 70s big race cams. (not for daily drivers)

I can tell you the factory stock idle vibration of a V6 2013 3.7 mustang is nothing like the hell that a 5.3 Chevy truck V8 with AFM has that they call "normal". AFM by the way is Active Fuel Management when talking about Chevy hell. Not All Ford Mustangs

It's the same on Diablosport tuners. You can change the idle if you want.
