Strange rattle...

Anybody ever get a strangle rattle coming from their passenger side dash? Mine is quiet, but noticeable. Only on acceleration through first, and sometimes second gear, then quickly goes away. Never done any work to my dash, so it isn't my forgetting to re-attach something or another. I'd post a video so you all could hear it, but exhaust and engine is too loud to hear it on cell phone video... Just curious if anyone else has had this noise too. Thanks.

Strange. I got a guy here who does warranty work, just hard to get time off work to take it in... You have any idea what it might be?

None. I'm bringing my car in tomorrow for a transmission issue so I'll see what they say.

I had an 08 Ford Ranger, I know different model and what not but It had a rattle coming from the passenger side and it turned out that the airbag cover was just vibrating. When you hear the noise just put pressure on different panels and if it's a lose panel the rattling should stop or at least become quieter. Hope that can help some what

No noise from mine, I had a cavalier many years back that I had to loosen the attachment screws for the dash, opposite of what I would have thought.

Meaning it could be anything, might have to have someone else do the driving while you pin point the noise.

ok, but why would it rattle because it was tightened too much?

The dash was supposed to move to allow for it to expand and contract. You are right it doesn't make sense it would squeek when tight.. Must have been in the spot between not loose enough to allow proper movement but not tight enough to hold it still

oh yeah, the plastic would have to expand & contract in the heat & cold, of course.
that makes sense.
...now that you reminded me of that ha ha

I'm constantly getting buzzing all over the dashboard. It's just the cheap plastic. I usually drive with music and/or the windows down in the summer so it's not that noticeable. But it is annoying. Nothing to worry about though, I wouldn't think. All that plastic is bound to come out of place a little bit eventually
