Sunroof

What are you thoughts of adding a sunroof to my car? I can get one for 1195 that is inbuilt and has lifetime warranty. Anyone have any positive experiences?

Sunroofs belong on nissans and hondas. I've yet to see an aftermarket sunroof that did not leak. Also don't forget you are changing the structural integrity of the car by cutting into the roof.

Sent from my massive johnson.

Personally, I feel sunroofs don't belong on muscle cars. But you make the car payments, so do what ever makes you happy. I would just recommend getting all the warranty info in writing in case a problem pops up down the road.

I wouldn't. I have the OEM glass roof and I love it. I would go that route if it's a possibility. As he said above aftermarket sun/moonroofs always cause problems and I think it would just look weird on a Mustang.

You really gotta be kidding-"RIGHT?"

Spending $1,195 to ruin your car. Not only ruin the car but also ruin the value.
No, I would suggest you do not get it unless you can't live without it and plan on keeping your car until it won't go anymore.

Don't do it. Keep as is or trade in for a convertible.

Even factory sunroofs have problems, don't do it.

My opinion, for what it's worth, is that I just don't care for them. In vehicles that my wife and I have shared that were equipped with a sunroof, they were always closed and the door slid closed whenever I drove it. When my wife drove, the sunroof slide cover was open to allow the sun to beam through, or the glass was open to allow the outside air in. I can say though, none of the factory equipped sunroofs we've owned ever leaked.

My wife would never be without one in her car. She either has to have a convertible, or a sunroof equipped car.

Seems odd; I never drive her car much, nor does she drive mine much.

The one's you install never look right

There was a Mustang at the Silver Springs Ford/Mustang show with the add on sunroof installed and it looked funny. It was the one that poped up in the back and was glass.
Get a convertible if you like the open air.
The sunroofs you add to a car are not like the one's that the Factory installs with proper drain tubes Etc. They usually just depend on a rubber seal to keep water out. I have not seen one that was on a car for a while that did not leak. Even a little is to much.
It is your car and if you really want a sun roof you should go ahead and get it. Any of us on the Forum can give our opinion but the bottom line is what you want. Just be sure the $1,195 includes having the headliner looking good as well as asking if the sunroof will be flat on the roof on the outside or stick up at all when closed. You will want to see a picture of a Mustang like yours with one installed. Then, You can decide if you want it or not.

Picture of a sunroof UGH!!!!!!!

This is one that flips up in the back. It does stick up when closed and you will hear some wind noise going down the road at 65/75 MPH when it is closed. More when opened.
Not a good choice.
Ronnie

My personal opinion, if it wasn't a factory option to begin with, it just doesn't look like it belongs. In the end, it's your car, no one else's. But you may have trouble selling it outright later if you don't trade it in, because even from the responses you have received so far, you may have trouble finding people who like it.

If it wasn't installed from factory I wouldn't add one because all the aftermarket ones are hideous!!

Sunroof

Wow that does look bad! I say OEM glass roof or nothing. There's got to be a way to install it after the fact. It's the only thing that would look good IMO besides a vert. It may not open but you got the side windows for that. I love mines! Only thing is I know it's like 2K if you try to order it from Tasca or Tousley.

If you look at your roof it's going to be nearly impossible. The roof has such a fast back concave that the roof won't lay flat. This is why we are offered the glass roof because it's the only easy way to do it.

On the Camaro they had to actually flatten the roof line to install it flush. Where as a standard roof has this weird groove thing. The sunroof on my moms gave the roof a cleaner look. She also never uses it. It just came with the package and she wanted the smooth roof.

I like the idea of them but like skylights in your house they are prone to leaks.
