Thinking about purchasing a remote system as well. Hopefully someone has some advice. 👍

I'm going with a Compustar from KCAutosound. I have one in my 2007 F150 and it works great. Travis from KCAutosound will pre-wire it and send detailed instructions and pics for the install.

Some members here have spoken on installing one of these on a standard transmission equipped car, as a remote start with the standard trans in gear would spell disaster!

With an automatic, this would not be the same case.

My '97 Dodge Avenger drove itself into my neighbors fence when my boneheaded ex girlfriend left the car in gear the night before. Lucky for me, nobody was in its path and my neighbor watched the thing unfold from his garage. He thought it was funny as **** and allowed me to repair his fence. Never again in a manual car.

I myself would never put one in a manual car either.

Hell no, she claims the car put itself in gear and then blames me for having a remote start on a manual car.

I have a remote start in my winter Subaru and have no problem with it. Just got to be very aware of not being in gear at the end of the day

If I was the only one driving it, I'd be cool with it.

I cant help but ask, so here goes; She didn't happen to be "Quack" as well as bone headed?

Also, why would the remote start by-pass the Neutral Safety Switch? These newer cars must still have them?

Yeah, she was a idiot. So glad she's outa my life. The only safety feature to stop that manual transmission car from taking off was the clutch switch and that had to be bypassed so that the remote start could work.

Compustar 2W9000-SS 2-Way Remote Start with 1 Mile Range

This is what I'm wanting to install before next winter. Down here in Texas(Houston-Galveston), our winters aren't very long or cold.

I'm curious as well. I heard that with the Ford remote start once you open the door it shuts off the engine.

Yeah I was wondering if aftermarket ones had the same problem or what even caused the problem with the Ford one.

Get a system with a neutral safety switch it willl not allow it to start in gear.
Never seen a car drive away from a remote start being left in gear. They usually just take a couple of jumps then stall. Odd.

Never heard any remote start (aftermarket) shutting off when the door opens, mine doesn't but mine is in a Subaru.

It possible, especially if you park your car in you garage or next to garage door those few jumps can cause some nice damage lol
