Exclamation AdvanceTrac Warning

My 2011 V6 MCA has been triggering the 'Service AdvanceTrac Light' for the last 5,000 miles or so that I've driven it. It is very random when it comes on but it does not stay on for more than a day or couple hours. I believe I figured out how to trigger it, by simply turning the steering wheel all the way.

So my question is what happens if I don't service my AdvanceTrac? The dealership already told me it's not covered under warranty since I already passed 36K and 3 years. I have been driving my stang for some time now since the light first came on.

The next time it comes on

Drive straight to your nearest AUTO ZONE and get them to pull the code Number. Once you have the Number they may be able to tell you which sensor may need replacing. If They can't replace it just tell the dealer what the Number is and how much will it cost to fix it.

I assume you are running different tires than stock.

Even if the same "specs", brands differ on the revolutions per mile...

I can generate this at will by turning to wheel lock and keeping it there while moving (like pulling out of a parking space).

It only happened when I changed to different wheel/tires.

Now if it happens in a straight line, like a dirty/ failing sensor ( which I recently started to get in severe rain / cold )... Crushing at 40. No tire slip. Just something shorting.

Thanks, love the blacked out ride you got there, that's a mean looking grille!

I used to get the service Advancetrac message intermittently. It was air in the lines. After bleeding the brakes, it has never happened again.

Took the mustang into a local ford dealership and it was diagnosed with a EPAS problem. Dealer told me EPAS will need to be replaced....$1500 (parts & labor)!!! Warranty does not cover it so I am looking at area auto shops that might have experience working on this.

It does, I just managed to pass 36K and 3 years a while ago. Dealership told me it is good under those circumstances but 5 years or 50 K and you're out of luck. Hopefully you don't run into the same AdvanceTrac problem.

Did they explain what exactly the EPAS is? Can't say I've heard of that.

Look for one in a local boneyard. Lots of low mileage Mustangs are showing up there, and most salvage yards give a warranty on the part.
