Hey Kona

To get to that 900 horsepower all you need to do is get some stickers on that Mustang. I just looked at the pictures of you Mustang and seen you have no STP, or any other high performance stickers on that car.
But, Your Mustang sure looks great. Even without the race stickers.

Alright Kona

What is that I see in your Garage????

Way to cool to hide that and not stick some pictures of it on your "Pictures"

Just like that. Except mine didn't bang around. Just one boom and that was basically it.

Scary.Thank goodness all ended safe.
V6 drive shaft upgrades & GT billet oil pump gears are what I hear needing attention on some of the the '11-'13 models..

Do you have the Roush package V6? Beautiful car you got there. What happened too your grabber blue mustang I posted up?

I got me a one piece aluminium driveshaft back in April 2013 and thrilled I did so. What a huge difference in quality between the one piece and our factory two piece of crap driveshaft.

I have 3:73 gears and have been 140 mph with my one piece and smooth sailing it was!

What part of Jersey you from? I am from Philly originally!

Lets see more pictures of your beautiful DUB edition pony.

Performance: steeds intake, mpt tune, p exedy Mach 500 flywheel, spec stage 3 clutch, steeda shifter bushings, aluminum driveshaft, 3.73 gears, lowering springs, and I'm putting on lower control arms, upper control arm and a pan hard bar in the next few days. I think that's all.

Aesthetics: roush full front fascia, roush rear valence, roush window lovers, roush side splitters, lexani 20" staggered wheels, custom vinyl stripes, custom wrapped interior, hand dyed interior stitching, tinted windowed, radiometer tail lights, aftermarket blacked out hesdlights, head/fog light tint, HIDs, ermmm... I think that's it for now too lol.

That's a good bit girly! I did my LCA's back a few months ago and glad I did. It eliminated my wheel hop issue. I went with J&M LCA's non adjustable. They work great! Have you considered painting your calipers the same color as your vinyl stripping. That would look very sweet.

I love the darken headlights you have and really love the raxiom smoked halo lights. My concern is the night time visibility for the light output. I've read people complained it was not bright enough. I already have 50% window tint on my front windshield! Lol

Damn! That's a really nice mustang!
Would you guys recommend a drive shaft safety loop with the aluminum drive shaft? Since I'll be down there anyways, or would it just be extra weight?

Thank you! And they are rated for such high horsepower that I don't think it's necessary. But that's just my personal opinion.

I love the Grabber Blue on black stripes. There were a couple other threads out here in the past where people wanted to know what color to stripe their black cars and that is what I always recommended. I also think Gotta Have It Green stripes would be cool too, just don't know if anyone makes those. Those would probably have to be painted on to get the true color and affects. The few GHIG cars I have seen in person seem to be more metallic and change colors depending on how the light hits it.

I'm sure they do. That would look awesome too. My color isn't even called grabber blue. It just happens to be identical!

Wow, a lot of panic being set for those who think they need a new solid drive shaft.

Don't get me wrong, if you plan to go after speeds that exceed the rev limiter of the stock V6 at a regular basis, then by all means, upgrade your driveshaft.

I have gone to several weekend airport track events with my 2011 V6. Granted, I have not hit speeds over 110 MPH for any extended periods of time (spurts, yes), and yes, I run a tune that has the speed limiter removed, but I have yet to have my driveshaft implode, or leave me stranded.

I suppose, if I had a spare few hundred bucks burning a hole in my wallet that my wife does not know about, I might buy one. But everytime I check (the wallet), I find nothing.

So for now, the stock drive shaft is serving me, and I'm not the "average" V6 type driver. It gets driven spiritedly on certain weekends at a track.

This early in the season with seasoned rubber having not been laid down yet and cool track temps, getting off the line on P Zero's even with 3.31's with a 5.0 is not that easy. A few weeks ago I had to leave at a dead idle peddling the car out of the hole and ET's suffered quite a bit. The 25-30 MPH cross wind also did not help. Had I been running a lower HP car like my Mark VIII it would not have been an issue. I have a set of DR's and LCA's coming, I expect lower 12's without too much difficulty.
As far as the V-6's go, they are the best value by far on the new car market performance wise. A local dealer is offering base cars starting at $14,995.

Besides speed being an issue, how does the two piece driveshaft hold up to firm shifts at WOT?

I have an automatic, and with the MPT tune, the shifts are very firm. I have had no issues with the two piece shaft.

It could be that I have just been flat out lucky that it has not broke, or that I'm not doing long runs of over 120-125 MPH while at the track.

Not denying it is a good investment, only that mine has not failed yet, and for those who are running their Mustang on the street at legal speed limits, I would not panic and run out and buy one.

Just up to what type of driving you are doing, and how often.

Why do you think the 3.7 mustangs are worth it?

Had I been running a lower HP car like my Mark VIII it would not have been an issue. I have a set of DR's and LCA's coming, I expect lower 12's without too much difficulty.
As far as the V-6's go, they are the best value by far on the new car market performance wise. A local dealer is offering base cars starting at $14,995.

This wasn't in our current weather... This was last year. Hoodie weather, no winds. Pretty decent weather actually for a run.

And 120-125 you're fine. DO NOT hit 130-135. I was extremely fortunate when my driveshaft blew. I say for the extra money it's not worth the risk of trying to cheap out. If it blows and drags that's one with with some fairly inexpensive damage depending on how much it bangs around. But if it hooks and rips off you're car that's a whole other problem.

Me having a one piece aluminum driveshaft offers other benefits besides knowing I can safely travel at higher speeds than my wife's 2005 Mazda MPV mini van. Ha ha ha!

Being that the aluminum one piece is less rotational mass than the factory two piece, it allows for faster off the online acceleration. Simple terms , its faster 0-60 mph runs and 1/4 mile times.

So for my review , I think the one piece aluminum driveshaft is well worth a purchase for anyone who drives there pony spirited and more aggressive than their mini van regardless if you track race or not. Another option I would recommend is looking for a pre owned one piece aluminum driveshaft. You can save a good 200 dollars from a new one if not be prepaid too spend around 700 dollars for one.

My internal slow down clock always hit at 120 in both mustangs.
The 2 fastest na v6's I know one for sure had the stock ds and tracked all the time. Foolinya I thinks his handle and his dad.
It's not often "most" hit those speeds all the time.
For the weight savings etc and if you have the extra $$$ it makes sense. It would be one of the last things I would do but that's just me. If I auto crossed and tracked my car all the time then it would probably get done sooner.
Seems it's still rather isolated on the blown ones. But it has happened so....you have options.

Alright. I'll start my saving up for one.

I'll count on a donation from Ronnie...hes good for 200 bucks towards "get a one piece drive shaft for bucko" cause.
