Question Trade advice PLEASE

I have a 2014 V6 Premium with Pony package and auto trans.
Considering trading it for a 2014 GT Premium, Manual, with Comfort, glass roof with California special package and 3.73 ratio limited slip.

Mine has under 1000 miles on it sticker was 29540
the other is brand new. MSRP 41170.

Dealer wants mine and 14,000 which includes everything , tax, title, doc, etc.

I really miss having a sunroof and the glass roof I love.
thought?

Not sure if you paid sticker for the V6 but it sounds like you paid quite a bit of money to drive your V6 1000 miles if you make the trade.

Let the negotiations begin!

I'd come back with: Your car and $11,000.
Or have you already beat them down on the price?

I'd probably say wait until the 2015s comes out and then the 2014s should go down in price. That's what I'm hoping will happen so I can trade mine in for a 5.0 as well.

Sounds like a fair deal if they are clearing the balance on your loan. Waiting for the 14 to go down in price only means your trade value goes down in price. If you have the money and that's what you want, do it and don't look back. If it puts you in a bind then keep what you have and enjoy it.

One way I may look at it is, how much will the total out of pocket cost be on the deal when it is done?

How much was your total out of pocket cost on the V6?

If you add both of those numbers together, is that a price you are willing to pay for the new car if you didn't already have the trade?

I know you did drive the V6, but you only put 1000 miles on it. You barely used it, it's still a new car. Although that might not matter to the dealer, it would matter to me.

You ain't bought it yet???

The costs of the cars difference when both new is $11,630. You are talking $14,000 out the door which means they pay all fees and taxes. At the $2,370.00 depreciation you are getting a pretty good deal.
If it was me I would go in and be ready to buy at the $14,000 but I sure would tell them I'll take it right now for $12,000 out the door. Ya gotta try for the extra $2,000 off. If they can't do it you are still getting a good deal at the $14,000.
It's not like the cars cost the same

Ronnies math makes it sound reasonable. My .02 is do you want to spend 14K to get what you really want. More importantly is it what you really want or will you not be satisfied till you get a Vette/Shelby/Porsche? I would try as suggested earlier for $2k better (bring $1000 cash!) the other thing to try for is an extended wtty as that is a high mark up item and an extra key.

good luck deciding.

I mean no disrespect but I guess I just don't understand why you even bothered with the 6 since it's apparently not what you wanted in the first place. That things not even broken in yet!

If you really want a GT

Now is the time to do it
Your only getting this good deal because the dealer is probably getting a kickback from the factory to sell out the 2014's. If you really want that GT you need to poop or get off the potty. These types of deals don't come along except at end of model year. They are paying all the taxes and crap so you are not losing a ton of money on your V6. Keep fooling around and that GT you love so much will be gone.
