TB or Headers???

I have Borla ATAK axlebacks and a Airaid CAI. I love the sound but I want more! What would be the best route and if I go with pipes what would be a good route to go if I wanna stay within CA regulations??

Don't think there's any carb legal headers for the 3.7s. Also don't think a TB will increase the sound enough. U can do a mid pipe with cat deletes & the swap the stock one back on when u need to do ur smog!

you could do shorty headers, but i think thats it considering your in Cali, the throttle body didnt make any difference for my car sound wise iirc... but it did add some noticable tq down low..

TB wont increase sound. I would say either shortly headers are your best bet to increase sound of possible go with a louder muffler. I dont see how shorty headers would cause a car to fail smog as long as they don't remove any emission parts.

Shorty headers will fail emissions because they're not carb legal. If it doesn't have the carb legal stamp they will fail smog in Cali!

Headers. All the way.. Why won't it pass emissions? Just get them after you renew your registration. (get the most enjoyment) You will need a tune with headers.. for sure..

I'm a BIG fan of mid-pipes. Use decent hardware to make it easily swappable for emission time. My Pypes made the BIGGEST gains on my 96GT. I know thats the year of the worst factory H-pipe. But all my friends with other years feel the same way about a decent Mid-pipe is a MUST!! Way more gains even with stock exhaust manifolds (If you already have one, GREAT!!) I couldn't imagine swapping headers once a year for emissions.... #WHOA

I got free shorty headers from BBK for letting them use my car to smog test the headers to get them c.a.r.b approved. They tested three mustangs and they all passed easily. For some reason it's taking a while for them to receive the C.A.R.B #. I'm sure they'll have it by the end of the year. Since you won't have to smog test your car for a few years it's safe to install them now. BBK installed my headers for free and I've had them on ever since (I live in California) and they sound great, a lot deeper and a little louder sounding. Once they receive the C.A.R.B # I'll be one of the first to know, I'll announce it on this forum.

Wow that's good news! It's about time the 3.7 gets carb legal headers.

The Shorty Headers do not need a tune either, it does not change anything with Emissions

I hear Cali is crazy on their emission laws! Shorties by them selves have nothing to do with increased emissions. What is "carb legal" just more red tape?

Carb is the regulation in Cali for emissions. Anything u change in the stock exhaust will basically not pass unless it's carb legal. The aftermarket exhaust company has to get a stamp of certification saying its carb legal. Cali emission laws are ridiculous that's why I just find someone who will pass it regardless! Haha.

Yikes! Hell we don't even have emission test here! Lol. At least you found a way around it, that must make car enthusiasts crazy down there!
