Excellent information on what oil to use

This tells you why to use the correct velocity oil and to use a very good brand such as Royal purple etc. Read the whole artical :

I guess you should use the viscosity your engine call for and stay away from the cheap crap oil.

Good read Ronnie. I'd also like to add that on another site, a couple of us here got into a "discussion" about oil viscosities. Ford indeed recommends the 5W-20 for the 3.7 and 5.0 (Boss and Shelby have different requirements as mentioned in this article).

However, it was found that 5W-20 is not available or sold in some European countries (England was mentioned). For this reason, any Ford vehicle that is sold in those countries come with a recommendation of 5W-30.

That article also talks about the variable cam timing our engines use, and the oil viscosity is important in the way of how that works (using oil as the hydralic pressure).

However, in a modded engine, FRPP made recommendations:
