Exhaust!

So my car won't pass inspection because if magnaflow comp axleback . Going to get a new axleback .. Any suggestions or reviews on any of the axleback systems. Ever thought of getting the 5.0 axleback a because there's a bigger variety and getting them fabricated to fit??

I guess you need to know the laws in your state and why an axle back caused you to fail in the first place before you spend more money on another and possibly run into the same situation. Never heard of that before. Why did they say you failed?

Do you still have the stock mufflers? Put them back on yourself and then swap back after inspection. Axle backs are easy to do yourself. Probably an hour, tops.

I agree. Living in Cali I have had to do this many times. I believe the Ford Racing axle back is 50 state legal.

I've been running just a cat and then a straight pipe on my Dakota for about 10 years now and never had a problem here in Wisconsin.

Borla exhaust sounds really good, but tends to drone a lot. If you're looking for an aggressive exhaust with no drone, than I highly recommend Corsa . They easily take the cake for a high quality exhaust and low to zero drone. It sounds like that's exactly what you're looking for to me.

Let me know if I can be of anymore assistance!

I love my car obnoxiously loud . Lol yes I am "that guy in town". But I need a good tone with not much rasp. I have longtube headers and a catted shorty x pipe. Does the corsa exhaust scream?

Magnaflow STREETS

Magnaflow streets sound great, No drone, Not obnoxious loud and have a good deep rumble.
Your Magnaflow comps should have just bolted on without any welding. Take a look under the car a see.

Corsa's can definitely scream. There's no doubt about that to me. However, the Corsa street mufflers are more tame at lower RPM's. You can cruise around and be moderately loud. At WOT, they'll really scream though.

Now the Corsa extreme mufflers, they may be more up your alley. They scream all the time, even when just cruising. Of course, at WOT they're super loud too.

I didn't see the corsa extreme on American muscle for the v6. I plan on doing something quiet at cruising but screams at WOT. Then put electric cutouts before the cats.

I bought the borla s types and couldn't be happier.. I recommend them to anybody. They are quiet to the point where if you are coasting on the highway you barely hear them at all, but at wot they scream and imo have a "GTR" type sound.

So tough to judge exhausts by videos as they usually sound different in person.

Absolutely! And they don't drone! I have no idea what Shane is talking about, but it sure ain't the Borla Stingers baby, they rock

Then I think the Corsa streets will be perfect for you. They're exactly what you're describing above. Especially because you're thinking about adding cut-outs at some point. Also, you're correct, we don't have the Corsa Extreme's for the v6 models unfortunately.

The Borla stingers often don't drone much, as they're an open free flowing muffler. I've ridden in a few Mustangs that paired the stringers with a catted mid-pipe which still had drone unfortunately. What I was initially referring to was the Borla Touring, since it's more comparable to the Corsa Street. Where the Touring tends to drone a lot and Corsa does not. That's not to say the Borla's don't sound good though! It just needs to be the right setup.

What's the difference between the atak and the stingers.

Download the Borla Catalog here and see pages #10 & #11.

Then go to their FAQ page here and learn about the science of exaust systems. Whether you're interested in Borla or another manufacturer, this is really interesting information and a must read. Enjoy

If you're thinking cut outs then just leaving stock exhaust and put cut outs before or after cats. then It would pass and be legal.

The Atak's are a bit more complex than the straight threw Stingers. I suggest checking out the Borla catalog that's linked above. They give you a much better explanation and visual.

You should post up another thread requesting assistance from local forum members. Maybe you'll be able to find a few guys to meet up with on the weekend and check our their exhaust systems. Plus, it would be cool to meet other members from the forum. Not to mention, it's always better to hear exhaust in person than a sound clip!

Hope everything works out for you! Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

Shane

Well I will be installing my bbk short headers and borla S-type (stingers) this Wednesday. If you live near Harlingen texas I would mind showing it off, but I will be uploading a video (which will not so it justice) but I will give you my complete input if it's worth the buy i am currently using pype bombs but those have intense drone and scream way to much I looking for a better tone and volume..
