I searched the forums and online and I couldn't find any graphs or tables for RPM vs MPH so I made my own. This is for a 3.7 V6 manual trans and 3.31 gears.

A couple of observations:
- you can hit 60 in second gear
- in second gear RPMs are almost equal to mph. So if you are cruising in 6th at 35 mph and want to quickly accelerate you can shift into second at 3500 rpm to rev match your speed.
- you can almost hit 100 in 3rd
- you can hit top speed in 4th
- theoretical top speed in 6th is 230 mph

That doesn't take into account all factors though. Tire height can actually make a bit of a difference. You won't believe how many times I've gone over the different rpms, tire heights, gears, and miles per hour to find the perfect combo.

I use this to find out my tire height:
http://tire-size-conversion.com/tire-height-calculator/

I then use this and plug in the different values to find out the rpms at different mph's through the gears.

2.73's 2nd gear 84mph 3rd 113+mph hits the speed limiter before 3rd runs out.lol

IMO if your a manual 3.55 or 3.73s are perfect. 4.10s would have been too much.

Nice to hear as I'm looking to go with 3.55s in mine as I think 3.73s would be a little to much for me.

I have a manual, here's the dilemma. I have a free set of 3.31gears with 2k on them or buy 3.55 for $145. Seems most people with 3.31 want to change them for 3.55 or 3.73.

If they were in the car already I'd say keep them, but if they are not I'd go with the 3.55s or 3.73s, you won't regret it! Well worth the upgrade!

Go test drive one with the performance pkg and see if you like them. Easiest way for free to see if you like them. If you need more bang afterwards you'll know to go to the 3.55s

Sounds like a plan, how you liking your lowering springs?

That works let me know your findings, I'm leaning to 3.55s as I think the 3.31s are still to low and the 2.73s well Ford should be slapped for even putting them in a Stang.

Ford used the 2.73 for a sales pitch to make the premium package with 3.31 seem more appealing.

Lol very true, but they decided not to do a convertible version of the performance pkg, so I'm stuck at the 2.73s until I can do the change.
