While I understand you can not use the "tunes", why do you need another tuner? Tunes are bought and paid for to use with a certain car. Can't you simply pay for another set of tunes for other car, and use same tuner? Switch back and forth as needed?

You can, but you would have to return the currently tuned car to stock before you can tune the other. When you tune a car, the tuner becomes "married" to that vehicle and cannot be used on others.
