CAI and Exhaust Combo?

So I've decided on getting the JLT cold air intake for my 2014 V6 but I just can't decide on the axle back system, what do you guys suggest as far as the best pairing option with the JLT? Or does it not really have any correlation to each other?

Its all personal preference when it comes to Axel backs, just chose the one that sounds best to you, performance wise there is nothing to gain from one Axel back to another.

Send a message via AIM to Borii
Axle back is a first mod usually but really should one of the last if you're getting headers as the sound will change with headers and your choice of x Pipe.

Please get the Roush Axle backs. They sound amazing! your car will sound like a v8 x10.. You can go look them up on youtube and see what they sound like. I have the roush exhaust with bbk cold air. The bbk cold air also sounds really nice, it has a nice whistle and makes the exhaust even deeper.

Why do you want the CAI?

If it's for perfomance gains, you're really not going to see much if anything unless you have done some serious engine modding. Of course if this is just something that you want for looks or just because you want it, then by all means go for it.

As far as axle backs go, use the search function in these forums, there are tons of threads with people asking that same questions. It ALL depends on personal preference.

Here are some examples:

Slighty deeper/louder than stock - Borla Touring, or really anything with the word "Touring" attached to it

Deep Tone - Borla S-type, FRPP Sport

LOUD - Roush, Borla Atak

These are just some examples there are a lot of others, it's up to you to either go on youtube or go to car shows and ask what people have. American Muscle has a show on August 16th, if that's an option for you to go to then that would be your best bet to hear the real sound.

Okay cool, I'll look into the august show. Thanks for the examples on different tones of exhaust that helped a lot, I'm looking at the mid range deep tone but not obnoxiously loud

Funny how we stress so much how we want the car to sound and these new generation vehicles are so expensive.

I myself can't seem to pull the trigger on either the Borla or the FRPP knowing full well there is no hp in it for me LOL.

I had the Flowmaster Force II on my 2011 3.7, and they sounded nice, but wasn't very loud, and had too much 'popping' for me.

For my 13, i'm looking at the Roush set up, as it gives more of a V8 deep tone, and it is pretty loud.

choosing exhaust is purely based on preference, IMO. If possible, once you look at Youtube links and such, try to find someone local who runs that kind of exhaust and hear it in person. I went with the Flowmaster because i liked the sound of the video clip, but wasn't quite as pleased in person. This time around, i found someone who runs Roush, and my mind is set, knowing i won't have regrets.

Depends if you want loud, raspy, deep, droning. I went with Pypes Pype Bomb, little cheaper but super loud!

Funny you mention that about the popping sound. I have the Flowmaster Force II's as well and had that same popping and crackle issue as well. I no longer have that issue and solved the excessive popping sound which was being caused by the tips on it.

The tips on the force II's are rolled upwards and not angle cut. The water from the mufflers would pool inside the tips and know where for the water to drain out. The tips on these did not have a drain hole and since the tips were not angled all that water would sit on top and inside of the tips. All that pooling water would get sucked back into the mufflers which would cause that horrible popping and crackling sound when letting off the acceleration.

Solution, I ordered new tips that are angle cut and all the excess water drains out. Also drilled two small holes on the bottom side of the mufflers allowing water to drain out of the mufflers keeping the baffles dry.
