You mean with cutouts? So the exhaust is just dumped after the headers? I've seen it where its dumped after the cats and i thought it sounded good

Finally found a good shop to install my catted xpipe and ceramic shorty headers. Getting them put on Friday. Hoping they pair up nicely with my ford racing sport Axlebacks.

I called about 5 different shops and finally settled on a shop that quoted me $250-$280 for both the midpipe and the headers. Most other shops wanted $400 plus.

Wow wasn't expecting that much... Also is there a big weight difference between the stock manifolds and the shortys?

A special wrench is available

I read on this forum that there is a special wrench available to make installing the headers much easier. It was a while ago.
Maybe someone reading this post can give the information on it.

I found it:::

Oh well, if it really makes it that much easier than it's worth it...

Doing the install myself with my friend, got quoted 300-650 for install from other places. So I thought I would take the chance and learn a thing or two about my car. Anyone who has these headers, what are the supplied hardware for?? The screw don't fit in any of the holes of the headers??? But also before the install I did a lot of research and watched other header installs so I hope it goes smooth

Are you going to reuse your stock gaskets? I've heard people say to use the oem ones

I was going to use the new gaskets since I have 40,000 miles and I heard only use them if you have a newer mustang

You have 4 studs and 4 nuts that came with the BBK's they are for attaching the mid pipe, you use all your own studs and nuts to put them on the head.

I have 30,000 miles on the BBK Gaskets, but still have the OEM hanging on a nail if they go out. I heat cycled them and then checked them every 500 miles or so for the first oil change interval and now check them when I do an oil change.

I bought one of the cordless impact drills from Sears about 6 months ago, the best 99.00 I spent in a long time. Im not saying it would help in this instance but having one is a nice option for stuff like this.

Do you have a pipe that will slide over your socket wrench? Do you even have the space to try some thing like this? My floor jack has a 2 piece handle this is hollow and it works great for stubborn bolts.

Use a 3/8 ratchet with just the socket. You can reach the bolts also by reaching thru the area where the controller arm is mounted. Look around and you will see the area. This is will give you more leverage

From above the car or under?

---------- Post added at 11:39 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:38 AM ----------

Also the header bolts entirely came out except for one so far, should I try to remove the nut or just leave the entire thing together?

If I remember correctly I read some where that the new studs for the mid pipe don't have enough threads to get tight. I cant confirm this because I haven't done it yet,but you might need to use some washers to the mid pipe and header tight.

Thats what Im saying. I read the new BBK studs dont have enough threads to properly tighten. You can confirm this when you get to it.

Im very interested in your install. When I do shorties it will be the BBKs as well. Any thing you can pass along will be great.
