Angry Big problem "Service Advance Trac"

Has anyone out there had problems with "Service Advance Trac" coming up on the dash text display? I ran into this a month and half ago and my car has been with the dealer ever since. My engine light and traction control lights also come on when this happen. First, they thought is was a bad brake sensor, next it was supposedly a relay and now it's a wiring harness that has been on back order for three week with no end in sight. What a pain in the butt for a mustang lover!

Yes. There are actually several threads on these forums about this exact issue. I believe in all cases the fix was to replace the steering rack assembly.

Sent from the future.

I've also heard of dealerships saying that ABS modules and air in the brake lines were the cause but I think the issue came back for some of those people.

Interesting, steering rack has not come up yet when talking to the Ford shop foreman. I'll have to bring it up next. Thanks for the input!

Seems like this is a problem where the dealership does a lot of trail by error to guess what might be causing the problem ABS, Steering rack and brake sensors. All this time I thought the computer in the car was suppose to tell the service tech what was wrong....guess not.

This happened to me a month after I bought the car, only right after the "service advance trac" came on, my power steering went out 10 seconds later. They had it for 2 days before they figured it out. Had to replace the steering rack. No problems since.

Mine did the same with the power steering and all the gauges went to zero while I was driving. Dealership called today and said wire harness is in so hopefully that fixes it but if not I'll bring up the steering rack fix. Thanks for the info.

Also, this happened to me too when the power steering went out. All my gauges went to 0 and all my dash lights came on and went crazy. Definitely mention the steering rack to them, you don't want your power steering going out again on a tight turn!
