Warranty Questions

Hey guys,
I'm new to working with cars and had a few questions about what would void my warranty. I'm wanting to start of with a CAI and a tuner, and later do something with the exhaust. I still have the factory powertrain warranty left and I went ahead and bought a bumber-to-bumper warranty from the dealership. Would adding any of those screw me over?

There is a broad spectrum on that in here. Best bet, go check with your dealer, specifically the Service Manager. Write down what you have done or what you have planned and give him a copy.

If he doesn't know, press the issue and have him look it up. So down he road if something needs to be covered by warranty, it can be fixed.

I installed my CAI and Tuner before my 2014 was even a week old. I bought it to enjoy now, not in 3 years after the warranty expires. The same goes for gas mileage. If I wanted an uber-high MPG vehicle, I'd ride a bicycle. In other words, just do it. Enjoy now, for you know not what tomorrow brings.

Hell yea!! You won't regret a tune and CIA combo... It really unleashes those bottled up ponies

I could see them probably not having a problem with that. Only if they were jerks and said your tune was hard on the driveline and you were leaking from the pinion seal.

This is why dealers will always win the warranty fight...they will always try to find a reason to blame the mods youve done. Sure they might be wrong, but the burden of proof will probably really on you. How long will it tie up your Mustang in the service bay? Mine is a DD so I wouldnt be able to fight it too long beofre needing my car back.

Kind of interesting because the only warranty work I had them do was a pinion seal that was leaking at around 6k miles. Curious if it was your pinion seal too.

They commented on the intake if memory serves but they didn't care, i believe they even reattached it when it was loose right?

Send a message via Skype™ to 99ford
Get to know your dealership. Most of the ones I deal with have no cares.

Ask them first. My dealership said the only exhaust work i could do was an axleback, talked to service manager and he said if i wanted to i could put on a catback and if it came down to it he would cover for me as long as i kept stock parts to put back on.
You'd be surprised with what they're cool with. They got you in a ford, now they wanna keep you happy so you stay in a ford
It can never hurt to ask first! And ALWAYS keep stock parts.
